BSP provides work opportunities in farm dairy operations for minimum security inmates. The Bureau of State Use Industries/DEPTCOR operates baked goods, clothing and license plate shops at the facility.

FROM NORTH JERSEY:

Take Garden State Parkway South to Exit 17. At exit, turn left to Rt. 9, tour left on Rt. 9

for approximately 3 miles; bear right at Highway #83. Highway #83 will end at Route 47.

Take Rt. 47 North approximately 9 miles. Bayside will be on the right side of road.

FROM CENTRAL JERSEY:

Take 129 to I-295 South to Route 42 South to Route 55 South. Take Route 55 South,

which will end at Route 47. Stay on Route 47 South for approximately 7 miles. Bayside

will be directly on the left side of the road, near the 28 mile marker.

FROM SOUTH JERSEY:

Take 295 North to Route 40 east. Route 40 to Route 55 South. Rt. #55 South, will end at

Route 47. Bayside Prison is about 7 miles South on the left side of the road near the 28

mile marker.

FROM PHILADELPHIA:

Walt Whitman Bridge, take Route 42 South to Route 55 South. Take Route 55 South,

which will end at Route 47. Bayside Prison is about 7 miles South on the left side of the

road near the 28 mile marker.

FROM NEW YORK:

A maximum of 4 adults are permitted to visit. An adult visitor must accompany children. The definition of relative, as it relates to visiting children, is limited to mother, father, husband, wife, child, brother or sister of the child. Children must be under the control of the adult accompanying them at all times. Children are not permitted to play/run in the Fronthouse or the Visit Hall. Adult visitors with children that cannot be made to comply with the rules of the Visit Hall will be required to depart. This rule ensures that ALL visitors are afforded an equal opportunity to visit in a pleasant environment.



Children under court appointed care of an individual other than a relative, as stated above, may be allowed to enter the facility to visit providing proof of custody has been noted on the inmates Visit Card. This can be accomplished by the adult having custody bringing the Court Order with them and presenting it to the Registration Officer for notation on the Visit Card.


Adult visitors must possess CURRENT identification. Acceptable identification is limited to the following:


A current photo driverís license
A current photo Welfare/Medicaid card
An employment photo ID Card which gives a physical description of the holder
A current passport
A Joint Connection photo ID card. No other form of identification is needed with this card.
There is NO SMOKING within the confines of Bayside State Prison.

In accordance with New Jersey Administrative Code 10A:18-6.14, all visitors, their belongings and vehicles are subject to search while on the premises of a facility under the jurisdiction of the Department of Corrections.

Visitors who enter the premises of a facility under the jurisdiction of the Department of Corrections and refuse to submit to a search shall be:


Banned from visiting an inmate committed to the custody of the Department of Corrections for 60 days and required to reapply in writing to the Administrator, Bayside State Prison for approval/disapproval of the reinstatement of visit privileges; and

Directed to immediately leave the premises of the facility under the jurisdiction of the Department of Corrections.
Bayside State Prison is a Zero Tolerance facility. As such a positive indication as a result of a canine search and/or scanning/testing device search is probable cause to believe that criminal activity has or is taking place and, the visitor shall be:

Detained;

Subject to search and arrest; and

In accordance with New Jersey Administrative Code 10A:18-6.14, if a controlled dangerous substance is discovered on, in the possession of, or in the vehicles of the visitor, the visitor
