i managed to get a copy of the visiting rules and regs. today and thought id post the whole thing for everyone.

IN THEIR CONVERSATION AND ACTIONS, INMATES AND THEIR VISITORS SHALL EXERCISE GOOD JUDGEMENT AND CONSIDERATION FOR THE FEELINGS OF OTHERS AT ALL TIMES. THE FOLLOWING REGULATIONS HAVE BEEN IMPLEMENTED TO PROVIDE EACH INMATE AND VISITOR WITH THE OPPORTUNITY TO VISIT IN A COMFORTABLE AND RESPECTFUL ATMOSPHERE. THE COOPERATION OF ALL IS REQUIRED TO ENSURE THAT THIS OCCURS.

VISITING ROOM REGULATIONS

1) offensive language will not be tolerated.

2) inmate and visitors must sit up on chairs, lying down or lap sitting is NOT permitted. feet must remain on the floor. inappropriate sexual behaviour (groping, petting, necking, lying on top of one another,hands inside clothing) will be subject to a warning. any further infractions of this nature will result in the termination of the visit, and referral to the visitor review board for review.

3) children who visit are the responsibility of the parents or guardian accompanying them and MUST be supervised by this person at ALL times at their own visiting table or in the play area that has been designated. children may not run around or create noise that will effect the quality of visits for others in the visiting room.

4) vending machines are provided for the convienence of visitors. items from these machines must be consumed in the visiting area. they may not be taken back by the inmate or removed from the institution by the visitor at the completion of the visit.

5) visitors shall confine their visiting to the inmate they have been cleared to visit, visiting around or sitting at other visitors table is not permitted.

6) for the convienence of visitors who are visiting with infant children, strollers are provided in the visiting room, personal strollers will be left outside the Vand C barrier in the coat area.

7) visitors may not bring outer garments (coats, hats, scarves, gloves etc) into the visiting room. coat racks are provided for this purpose. institutional jackets will be provided for use in inclement weather, these jackets are not to be removed from the visiting area.

8) once visitors have entered the visiting area, they will not be permitted to return to their lockers or coat area for items they may have forgotten. in cases of emergency requireing medication, V&C officer will accompany the visitor to their coat or locker.

DRESS
visitor dress is an induvidual decision however the following must be considered.

visitors are expected to dress in a manner that would not undermine a person or causing humilation or embarassment to any other person who may be reasonably expected to be in the visiting area.

A) visitors must wear some type of footwear at all times

B) bathing suits and/or any excessively revealing clothing (shorts, halters etc) are prohibited.

C) all male visitors must wear a shirt or sweater- tank tops and/or muscle shirts are not permitted.

D) children must be properly dressed wearing a shirt at all times.


CONDUCT IN V & C AREA

PLEASE RESPECT OTHERS IN THE V AND C AREA. CERTAIN BEHAVIOURS ARE DEEMED INNAPROPRIATE SUCH AS:

- making out(ie. necking)
-fondling eachother-putting your hands up a person's top etc
-huddling over eachother
-swearing, using fowl language
-lap sitting
-having sexual intercourse
-feet up on the chairs, laying down across the chairs and tables
-horse play

*** V AND C STAFF WILL NOT TOLERATE ANY INAPPROPRIATE BEHAVIOUR. THE STAFF WILL GIVE A WARNING TO THE INMATE AND HIS VISITOR IF THEY ARE BEHAVING INAPPROPRIATELY.

** IF STAFF HAVE TO GIVE A WARNING A SECOND TIME THE VISIT WILL BE TERMINATED IMMEDIATELY. THE INMATE AND HIS VISITOR WILL BE PLACED ON CLOSED VISITS UNTIL THEIR VISITING STATUS IS REVIEWED IN FRONT OF THE VRB.

** IF AN INMATE AND HIS VISITOR ARE ENGAGED IN INAPPROPRIATE SEXUAL BEHAVIOUR, THE VISIT WILL IMMEDIATELY BE TERMINATED WITHOUT A WARNING. THE INMATE AND HIS VISITOR WILL BE PLACED ON CLOSED VISITS UNTIL THEIR STATUS IS REVIEWED IN FRONT OF THE VRB.

** IF PLACED ON CLOSED VISITS FOR INAPPROPRIATE SEXUAL BEHAVIOUR/DRUG RELATED ACTIVITY, THE VISITOR'S REVIEW BOARD WILL REVIEW YOUR CLOSED VISITING STATUS AFTER A PERIOD OF 90 DAYS. A RISK ASSESSMENT FROM THE CASE MANAGEMENT OFFICER HAS TO BE SUBMITTED TO THE VRB FOR REVIEWING.
