The London Correctional Institution seeks to provide offenders of felony convictions within the State of Ohio a safe, efficient, humane and appropriately secure correctional institution, while maintaining dedication to the protection of citizens of the State of Ohio and the local community. Mindful of Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction's initiatives of re-entry, community service and victim reparation, we seek to instill in offenders an improved sense of responsibility and the capacity to become law-abiding members of society.

Unique Programs

· The Bureau of Community Services trains and cares for dogs through partnerships with Pilot Dog, Inc. The Pilot Dog Program consists of inmates training and caring for dogs that will prepare the animals for placement with visually impaired clients. Depending on the dogs’ skills, the training period usually lasts between eight and twelve months. Once the dogs have mastered the necessary skills, the dogs are returned to Pilot Dog to be matched with a client.

· The Renaissance Treatment Program is a residential treatment program, consisting of eighty beds, specifically designed for inmates who have a documented history of alcohol and/or other drug(s) dependency and for inmates who have additional literacy needs. The dual needs program (literacy and recovery) is a half-day of morning literacy class and a half-day in the afternoon of the recovery program. The inmates in the dual needs program are inmates who have alcohol and/or other drug(s) dependency and literacy issues (no high school diploma, no G.E.D., and/or reading levels at 9.0 or below). The full time treatment program is eight months in length and consists of a one-month pre-treatment phase, a five-month treatment phase, and a two-month aftercare phase.
