SECOND LOOK BILL --- 86th Legislative Session 2019

Please support youthful offenders. When the 86th Texas Legislative Session convenes in January, 2019 one of the most important bills to be considered is the “Second Look” bill. It aims to provide parole reform for excessively sentenced youthful offenders by making them eligible for parole once they have served twenty years.

There exists a thin line between incarcerating youth long enough to rehabilitate and too long to the point where they become overly institutionalized and become beyond reform. Supporters of the “Second Look” bill don’t excuse youthful criminality but they compassionately believe in giving youthful offenders a second chance at life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.

The 86th Texas legislative session is just around the corner. Get your paper and pen ready to write to your legislators and spread the news about SECOND LOOK 2019.

(Bill numbers will be available shortly)

The 86th TEXAS Legislature news is in and the BILL NUMBERS HAVE BEEN FILED !!!

PLEASE write to your legislators and ask them to support HB 256 and SB 155 !!!

These bills will pave the way toward parole reform for youthful offenders convicted of crimes before age 18 and have lengthy sentences in TDCJ.

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE --- Take just a little time for our children.

Putting children or young offenders in jail or prison is the worse thing! Support these bills! Thank you for sharing.
