Introduction

Just wanted to let people in the New York community know I'm here and willing to help if I can. I had worked in NYS correctional facilities of all types. I was a supervisor for facility parole, guidance and counseling. Was primarily involved in inmate parole board prep process and running the parole boards. May be able to answer questions or have a take on what's happening for your loved one. I feel for all going through this hardship.

Thank you for contributing.

In a general sense, how long does it take for Albany to come back with a work release decision? From what I have read, it looks to be within 6 or 7 months. Am not sure if that is accurate.

We are in month 4 of waiting for a decision.

It really depends on earliest release date. It's not a matter of when the facility has approved it. Albany will hurry with these when the inmate is about four months till that earliest release. Most inmates who get work release aren't on it very long. It also depends on how many inmates are on work release from that certain facility.

Thank you. We are trying to gauge ti.mming, which is unrealistic. He was medically denied Shock, so it is just waiting for the next early release program.

CR is is 2 years from April. Merit is in a year and half. Will finish his program for merit in a few weeks. According to his counselor, he doesn't have an Asat or Casat need.
