Daily Muslim Wisdom
As God has made the Qibla manifest, abandon your search. Hark, turn away from all futile search, now that the House has come to view. If you forget this Qibla for one moment, you will be overcome by the qibla of desires.

For those who honour the majesty of the Lord, there are two gardens, each planted with trees which give shade. Which of the Lord's blessings would you deny? Each garden is watered by a spring which constantly flows. Which of the Lord’s blessings would you deny? Each garden contains a pair of every kind of tree; so there is every kind of fruit. Which of the Lord's blessings would you deny?

-Qur'an, Ar-Rahman, Surah 55:46-53

Knowledge has two wings. Conjecture is one wing. Conjecture alone is lacking and cuts short the flight. The one-winged bird continues to struggle, hoping to reach the nest somehow with one wing. And then wisdom shows his shining face. Delivered from conjecture, the bird now spreads both wings (and soars once again).

-Rumi, "The Life and Thought of Rumi"

From "The Bounty of Allah," translated by Aneela Khalid Arshed.

Have faith in Allah and His messenger, and strive in His way with your wealth and your lives. That is for your own good, for He will forgive you for your transgressions and admit you into graceful moments in the Gardens of bliss where rivers run through. That indeed is the greatest triumph. Deliver the glad tidings to the believers that Allah will bestow yet another blessing upon them, His succor and a speedy victory.

-Qur'an, As-Saff, Surah 61:11-13

Ronnie 12-14-2006 08:41 PM

I seek refuge in Allah from knowledge that brings no wisdom, from a heart that lacks kindness, from desires that bring discontent, and from supplications that go unanswered.

-The Prophet Muhammad (SAW), as reported by Abu Hurairah

Ronnie 12-15-2006 12:45 PM

Have patience; Allah does not deny the reward of the righteous.

-Qur'an, Hud, Surah 11:115

Ronnie 12-20-2006 07:37 PM

He reveals His portents to you and sends down sustenance for you from the sky. Yet none pay heed save those who turn to Him repentant. Therefore worship your Lord and none other but Him, however much the non-believers be averse.

-Qur'an, Ghafir, Surah 40:13-14

Ronnie 12-26-2006 07:53 PM

Praise be to Allah, the Creator of the heavens and the earth, who appointed the angels with two, three, and four wings as His messengers. He may multiply what He wills, for He has power over all things. Once the gates of His mercy have opened, none can withhold it, but should He decide to withhold it, none has the power to release it thereafter. Allah is the Most Powerful and Wise.

-Qur'an, Fatir, Surah 35:1-2

SBHurling 12-26-2006 07:54 PM

Worship Allah and join none with Him; and do good to parents, kinsfolk, orphans, Al-Masakin (the poor), the neighbor who is near of kin, the neighbor who is a stranger, the companion by your side, the wayfarer, and those whom your right hand possess. Allah does not like such that are proud and boastful.

-Qur'an; An-Nisa', 4:36

SBHurling 12-28-2006 04:25 AM

Believers are only they whose hearts tremble with awe whenever God is mentioned, and whose faith is strengthened whenever His messages are conveyed unto them, and who in their Sustainer place their trust.

Qur'an; Al-Anfal, 8:21

SBHurling 12-30-2006 11:37 PM

Rejecters of faith
Allah (God); has sealed their hearts and their hearing, and over their eyes is a veil; and awesome suffering awaits them.

Qur'an; Al-Baqarah, 2:7

Ronnie 12-31-2006 11:56 AM

Recite then as much of the Qur'an as you can with ease, because He knows that some among you are sick, others must travel in search of His bounty, and others still have to struggle in His cause. Recite then only that which is easy for you, establish worship and give in alms, thus offering Allah a generous loan. Whatever good you send before yourselves, you shall find a richer reward with Allah.

-Qur'an, Al-Muzzammil, Surah 73:20

SBHurling 01-01-2007 04:31 AM

And of the cattle reared for work and for the sake of their flesh, eat whatever God has provided for you as sustenance, and follow not Satan's footsteps: behold he is your open foe!

Qurán; Al-An'am (The Cattle), 6:142

Ronnie 01-01-2007 10:58 AM

Make the pilgrimage, visiting the sacred house, for God's sake. But if you are prevented from making the pilgrimage, send such an offering as you can afford.

-Qur'an, Al-Baqara, Surah 2:196

SBHurling 01-02-2007 03:05 AM

Love (for one another)
And among His wonders is this: He creates for you mates out of your own kind so that you might incline towards them, and He engenders love and tenderness between you: in this, behold, there are messages indeed for people who think!

Qur'an; Ar-Rum (The Romans), 30:21

SBHurling 01-02-2007 03:19 AM

Love for the sake of GOD
A good or bad companion is like one who carries musk and one who blows the bellow. The one who carries musk may give you some, or you may buy some from him, or you may feel a fragrance from him; but the one who blows the bellows might burn your clothing, or you may feel a bad smell from him.

-Ahadith (Bukhari, Muslim), 154

SBHurling 01-04-2007 03:46 AM

If you do deeds of charity openly, it is well; but if you bestow it upon the needy in secret, it will be better for you, and it will atone for some of your bad deeds. And Allah is aware of all that you do.

Qur'an; Al-Baqarah (The Cow), 2:271

SBHurling 01-04-2007 03:56 AM

Spending (Giving Alms)
If you spend (to help others), O son of Adam! I [God] shall spend on you.

-Ahadith (Bukhari, Muslim), 36

When a (courteous) greeting is offered you, meet it with a greeting still more courteous, or (at least) of equal courtesy. Allah takes careful account of all things.

Qur'an; Nisaa (The Women), 4:86

SBHurling 01-07-2007 12:49 AM

Good and Evil
Whatever good happes to the is from God; And whatever evil befalls thee is from thyself. And We have sent thee (O Muhammud) as an apostle unto all mankind: and none can bear witness (thereto) as God does.

Qur'an; An-Nisa (The Women), 4:79

SBHurling 01-07-2007 01:04 AM

Ahadith (Sahih Bukhari); Volume 7, Book 70, Number 548

SBHurling 01-07-2007 10:34 PM

Trials & Tribulations
God does not burden any human being with more than he is well able to bear: in his favor shall be whatever good he does, and against him whatever evil he does. O our Sustainer! Take us not to task if we forget or unwittingly do wrong! "O our Sustainer! Lay not upon us a burden such as Thou didst lay upon those who lived before us!" O our Sustainer! Make us not to bear burdens which we have no strength to bear! "And efface Thou our sins, and grant us forgiveness, and bestow Thy mercy upon us! Thou art our Lord supreme: soccur us, then, against people who deny the truth!"

Qur'an; Al-Baqarah (The Cow); 2-286
