Ten years inside, no trial
After 10 years of delays, Kharon Davis going to trial

The capital murder trial for a Dothan man, plagued by repeated delays over a decade, will begin Monday by striking at jury at 10 a.m.

Kharon Davis has been jailed since his arrest in 2007 for the murder of Pete Reaves at Rolling Hills Apartments.

Over the years Davis’ trial has been delayed numerous times due to requests from the prosecution as well as the defense.

Read article below:

He's finally going to trial. It's been a long ten years, with many disciplinary infractions.

There's also a New York Times story about the case. I'm interested in how it looks to lawyers. To me as a layman it looks like there aren't any good guys in this train wreck.

Jeez, I thought my husband's three years was bad. Sometimes those delays benefit the trial, sometimes those delays (California, for example) when you know you're going to end up with a state sentence help reduce your time served. But ten years seems excessive in any case.

This sounds so insane being held ten years??? Sounds like an extremely fouled up system.
