Does it really take jpay 24-48 hours?

Does anyone know if the emails come through immediately like how they are on jailatm.com (the county) or does it really take jpay 24-48 hours like I've read previously in older threads????

I think it's always different... When my man was in a facility that had JPay, the time stamp would always change. Sometimes he'd reply within 4-5 hours, sometimes it wouldn't go through for a few days.

I have found jpay varies a lot .Very short messages can just be a couple of hours.Longer messages can be 1 -2 days or quicker. Weekends can be very slow.

Wow. How long ago was that??? I've read that on older threads.. I thought it would be faster.

It's different everywhere. Just have your LO check. When you talk to him tell him what time your going to send one and then have him check and see when he gets it. My husband's and I get ours within 20 minutes of sending them even on the weekends.

Thank you!!! I hope ours are like that.. where is your husband located if you don't mind me asking...??

I noticed the shorter messages are usually quicker. Longer ones with especially pictures can take days. It all depends on facility and the people screening. They don't get in no hurry.

You hit on it.
Some Georgia facilities look at everything coming in. If the personnel are short or it's the weekend messages get held up. That is how jpay messages get out of order.

So we timed it today... it was like 30 minutes between sending and getting a response.. the pictures were a little slower. But not more than an hour..

I JPay with my boyfriend every day (we are in Ky) and even my long messages go through within an hour usually. His come to me just as quick. Sometimes I notice if certain words are used it takes longer like maybe it flags it to have it screened more to make sure there isn’t anything being said that shouldn’t. If there is a picture attached it can take all day or next day. I send pictures separate for that reason. Weekends it is slower and usually don’t get pictures on weekend.

My friend doesn't get any emails on the weekends at all in FL. I will get the ones he sends me in a couple of hours on the weekends. During the week, his emails get to me in about 20-30 minutes. Mine get to him in about 2 hours.

We are in GA. I'm super happy he can still receive them on the weekends?? Is your friend using his tablet?? My bf has his tablet 24/7 he says they turn the wifi off around 11:00 so that's usually when the emails stop.

KSoze 04-20-2018 04:44 PM

Mine always takes about 48hrs, in GA

Friend in Jail 04-21-2018 01:01 PM

He doesn't have a tablet yet. They were supposed to become available this spring, but we are still waiting.

I've been asking myself this same question. LO is in a Georgia facility. I seem to receive one jpay a week which is normally sent out on a Sunday. Sometimes I receive it the same evening, sometimes the next day. I've noticed I receive more jpays when they are on lockdown, he tells me he still gets called out to work. Which makes me wonder if there are long lines for the kiosk when they're not on lock down. I'm also bearing in mind that he's not a young man anymore and still has to work. Maybe lining up for the kiosk is too much trouble these days. I'm at a loss to know what to think.

kellydavid410 03-24-2019 09:25 AM

I usually get the emails with about 12 hours delay. I know in njsp where my man is they get 20 minutes a day on the kiosk which they also send medical stuff commissary any legal issues are all sent from there including buying music and sending out emails. If it's a short email sometimes I get it immediately but usually it takes about 12 hours. I'm not sure if things are different in Georgia or every state

CWLG 03-24-2019 10:10 AM

Thanks for reminding me about the other things they use the kiosk for, LO does have a lot of legal stuff going on lately. He has a tablet but my understanding is that everything has to be synced through the kiosk.

IamMe_australia 03-24-2019 07:48 PM

From one of my PPs at Lee Arrendale I receive her correspondence usually in about an hour and a half, for my other PP there however it is around 19 hours. But all of my stuff through JPAY is very slow - pretty sure they are discriminating against me :D

CWLG 03-26-2019 09:55 AM

Well, I had my weekly jpay yesterday. He said he's dirt tired as he's been working a lot, ready for the commissioner coming today. I guess I'll just have to accept that.

Gadancechic 05-15-2019 03:08 PM

I would say in the last 3 months at least JPay has had an increase in delay from the time my boyfriend sends me an email and the time I get it. This is both for the website and app.

It may also be because the emails have to be reviewed by the prison. We had an email to my son rejected because it included the bio of 2 lawyers we were trying to decide between. The bio included words like sex offense. Guess that flagged them & they didn't read the rest. When I complained to JPay about the email not being received, they checked & said it had been rejected on the prison's end.
