Pinckneyville Info

Hi all. Hubby just got transferred from Menard r&c to Pinckneyville. Level 2 medium, not fun. Any info would be appreciated?? Hearing there’s another “receiving” process there? He got there Wed & called yesterday so that’s a good sign. Visitation? Any tips?? That super 8 right by the prison any good?? Thanks for any info.

Hi all. So I visited today! Went smooth. They are very strict on no cell phones in building even if you’re taking a taxi. Learned that the hard way. Other than that the staff was surprisingly nice. Guess I had different expectations it being a level 2 medium, and my only other e oerirbce has been at Robinson.

Yea! Nothing like a good visit to take some of the stress off your shoulders :) Glad you were able to go see him

I take it Pinckneyville doesn't have lockers for your personal stuff....did you have to leave your cell phone with the CO's and claim it after visit?

Most if not all prisons in Illinois (IDOC) no longer allow cell phones or watches in the facility for visitors. Not allowed to leave them in a locker either.

Well a lot are ok with people putting them in the lockers actually, when they’re using public transportation. I found out the warden specific to PVille disallows because some were recently discovered.

I had to take it back to my hotel and ask the taxi driver to pick up at a specific time.

Sorry for the frustration. My info is based on the downstate prisons where public transportation isn't available.

Oh no worries thank you for sharing! So I just learned that Pinckneyville does not provide a pillow to their inmates. They have to BUY one. So what about the poor guys with no commissary $$?! I feel like a pillow is a basic effing necessity and find it outrageous they don’t provide one. I low key feel like finding a home store to donate pillows to the entire facility, or at the very least for inmates that can’t afford one. Wouldn’t want to ruin IDOC booming retail business of course...
