Looking at a 3 year jail sentence - good time

I am looking at a 3 year sentence with 3 months to be served in Dekalb County Jail. Does any one know if I have to do the full sentence? When I did county time in CA you only did 85%. My lawyer couldnt even answer my question for sure. I live in NY and have 2 small kids so kinda need to know for sure how long I will be in jail. Does anyone know if Dekalb county does good time credit? thank you

County jails are the worst at trying to find information about them. I'm surprised the NY allows county to hold you for more than 2 years. Most states bump you to prison for that long.

I'm sorry I don't have information about Dekalb county. I know county jails are usually really strapped for funding, so they try to get people out as fast as they can. Did your judgment order say anything about possibility of parole?

Thanks

I meant to put 3 months not years.

With only 3 months to serve, it's unlikely you'll get out early (or early enough to make much difference). I'm not trying to be a downer, but if you have two kids and need someone to watch them while you serve your time, I also don't want you to think you only need 2 months of childcare.

Plan for the worst (3 months), hope for the best. If you plan for the worst and get out early, everyone will be happy.

I wish you luck. If you've never served time before, I recommend you read this post, as it might keep you safe: http://www.prisontalk.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=592193

Ugh that sucks to hear but thank you so much for the info. I know in California they only do 85% but Georgia sucks. Thank you for the link I will check it out.
