DCS called my house. What does it mean!?!?

I got a call about my son today from someone at DCS. Is that who does parole in Georgia? Is that his parole officer? If not which department calls your house before someone is released? Is DCS (department of community supervision) the agency that handles all parolees?

They asked if I had any guns in the house.

Yes, according to their website:

Quote:

The Department of Community Supervision is responsible for the supervision of about 180,000 adult felony offenders and Class A and Class B designated juvenile offenders. Some have been granted parole or a reprieve by the State Board of Pardons and Paroles, while others have received probated or split sentences by Georgia courts.

You may want to read through their website, see if there's any info there you can use :)

It sounds like the beginning of the process of him paroling out and he's using your address as the place he plans to move into.

They have to do home checks first to make sure the home is acceptable to DCS before he can move in there.

I'd talk to him about it and see what he knows from his end of things.

Yes, it is all one agency now. It used to be Probation & Pardons & Paroles. Now they all report under one umbrella. There are different officers for both but it's still Dept of Community Supervision.
