Fall/Winter Joys, Concerns and Prayer Circle 2015
We mark the journey of life with change. Again we witness creation moving from one season to the other.
Change is the instrument of growth that brings to us abundance.

If you need a prayer/good thought/healing energy (whatever term your faith or tradition embraces), it is welcome here.

If you have a joy that you want to briefly share, here's the spot.

This is for all denominations and traditions.
There will be no debating of whose truth is "right".
This won't be a good place for asking questions about the details of another's religious/spiritual practices, just a safe space for dropping your cares and counting your blessings.

A reminder that our thoughts, silent hopes and prayers do have power.

Our prayer this day [...] is that we may be gentle with ourselves and with others as we do our best to navigate through the tricky shoals of December.

May we avoid being so distracted with our own problems and duties this year that we forget the wider web of life of which we are a part.

May we go about our rounds of preparations and festivities with a light heart and with boundless patience.

May the dissatisfactions that are part of our lot be our companions, but not our masters, as we cross the holiday threshold.

And may all the joys of the season be ours, this time around.

On this Winter Solstice...
Spirit of winter rest, help us to enjoy your peace in this quiet place.
Remind us to pause during this season.
Grant us awareness, keep our gratitude fresh each day.
May the songs in our heart be blessings and insights to us and to others
and may compassion always shine forth from the depths of our hearts.

I pray everyone has a holiday season filled with peace, joy, rest, blessings and desires fulfilled.
May we find the time to enjoy the small gifts that we experience, such as a walk in fresh air , a warm cup of our favorite drink , a soft warm bed or the touch of a loved one.

Blessed New Year PTO Family
I am the new year. I am an unspoiled page in your book of time.

I am your next chance at the art of living. I am your opportunity to practice what you have learned about life during the last twelve months.

All that you sought and didnít find is hidden in me, waiting for you to search it but with more determination.

All the good that you tried for and didnít achieve is mine to grant when you have fewer conflicting desires.

All that you dreamed but didnít dare to do, all that you hoped but did not will, all the faith that you claimed but did not haveóthese slumber lightly, waiting to be awakened by the touch of a strong purpose.

I am your opportunity
to renew your faithfulness to Him who said,
'behold, I make all things new.'

Just the phrase makes me want to shrink back. I'm a people person, I love people. People are some of my favorite, well, people. But over the years I've learned that I enjoy people so much more when they're outside of my space.

My uncle rolled up in his conversion van 13 days ago. We knew he was coming, but not six days earlier than planned...nor that he would be staying a week longer than agreed upon. I have tried to see the blessing in his presence and to be fair, there have been moments. But I am struggling to keep my patience with the situation. I want my routine back, I want my space back and I want my place of peace.

I'm here to pray for patience-- for those waiting for a phone call to ease their mind, patience for those holding the hand of a loved one while they right themselves on the path that leads them to a future brighter than they can imagine. I pray for patience in a time when immediacy and instant gratification are the expectation. I pray for patience in a world that cries out for relief. Amen.

When life seems a struggle between tedium and apathy or frenzy and exhaustion.
When today seems a punishment and tomorrow a torment
May we find the courage of patience.
May we recognize courage in ourselves and our companions, which is not dramatic, that elicits no fanfare
That commands little notice by the world, that is forgotten and taken for granted. [...]
May we know such courage and quietly celebrate its presence among us.
