In 1993, Richard Hoagland seemed to be living the good life. He had a young wife and two sons, Matthew and Douglas. Business was good enough at his insurance company to pay for a five-bedroom house outside Indianapolis, a speedboat tied up at a nearby lake and a closet stuffed with designer suits.
Then he went AWOL.

Wow, what a piece of work.

To just disappear and leave your wife and two young sons hanging...

Wonder if they'll ever see any of that $1.86 million in back child support he now owes?

Yeah, he's pure rat-bait...

I doubt it!!!

If it were me, I could easily forego a chunk of that money in exchange for watching the POS rot in prison for a few decades...

What I find really weird is why would someone walk away if his life was so good? Generally people don't just take off like that unless they were doing something or into something so bad that they have to disappear.

Not always true, no matter how good someones life may be, there could always be something thats missing. Not saying what he did was right in the smallest way , but we can never know what someone else is feeling / thinking about their own life

Aside from the identity theft is this really any worse than any parent walking away from their children. The end result is the same.

No but parents do this everyday generally they don't take on a new identity with out a reason. Just seemed like kind of vague no reason to just disapear and do this.:hmm:
