I would call your Vet's office. I've donated back opened food to them, partial medications etc. Our vet uses them for "trials" - like when they want to try a medication on a dog, to see if it works.

Heck, for that matter, I donated a whackload of towels from when I had to move my mom out of her house - since she was a hoarder she literally had so many towels that I couldn't fit them all in my Subaru Outback in one trip. The vet, from surgeries and the like, need towels constantly.

And they also know who else might need things. No reason to sit on the phone for hours calling shelters. Just call your vet and use the folks that they know. Most vet offices worth their salt know which shelters are worth supporting and which ones are dicey or don't treat the animals in their care well.
