Default Who would one call to donate clothes or stuffed animals

I am assuming the red cross can take those calls, but I would want to be sure they are getting to THESE victims rather then stuffed in a storage somewhere.

I have been going through my kids clothes and have several HUGE trash bags full of girls clothes of many sizes. I was also thinking about some kind of stuffed animal drive for the children. I know that right now having a cute little cuddley would really be great. A lot of times of police officers around here carry them in thier cars to give little kids who are scrared for one reason or another.

I know my kids have lots of stuffed animals they dont need and I am thinking of contacting the school Tuesday and seeing if they could help with something asking for each kid to donate at least one stuffed animal for those children who have nothing

Right now, the Red Cross is asking for money over everything, simply because they don't have the manpower and storage and etc for clothing and the like.

Check and see if any of your local agencies are collecting clothes and such.

As for the stuffed animals, I agree. Those little ones could definitely use something to squeeze tight.

Good idea.

Well money is one thing that I dont have, but I wanted to do something. Maybe I wont worry about the clothes right now, but the stuffed animals I really want to check into. I know that when my girls are sad and scared they take confort in holding their favorite stuffed animal tight. I feel for everyone in this situation, but my heart goes out to the children first.

Are their any other places that you could drop off other than the Red Cross? In my area, we have the church taking donations of all sorts, the public school where I work at is taking money donations. Even the local news station is accepting donations.

Are their any places such as these that you can drop items off at? I say stay tuned to the news and maybe they have other places that you may feel better about dropping off items at.

I think its a great idea about calling the school for a donation, it can be anything, these people need anything they can get. Good luck with all that gurl!

T,

You might want to try and call the Salvation Army as well.

I was thinking of doing the same thing.

Call your nearby Salvation Army or Goodwill...check your phone book.
I heard a suggestion yesterday. Please mark clothing as to size and bag like things together. EX: girls clothes size 6 all in one bag: women's clothes, size 12: etc....because nobody has time to sort through a truckload of clothing and try to determine sizes...

They are asking for SMALL toys, playdough, books for the smaller children in Houston. Don't know how to send. Possibly send a box c/o Astrodome in Houston and I'll bet they'll get it. Need to do research to find out for sure.
