Default Natl: Report Brings Out Facts About Meth Addiction

Natl: Report Brings Out Facts About Meth Addiction
» August 2, 2006 - 12:28pm.

The Sentencing Project has released a report, The Next Big Thing: Methamphetamine in the United States, that looks at research and facts to dispel many of the most pervasive myths about methamphetamine. These myths are interfering with setting realistic and effective polices for dealing with meth addiction. Key findings of the report include:

  • Methamphetamine is among the least commonly used drugs.
  • Methamphetamine remains a rare occurrence throughout most of the country and is not indicative of a nationwide problem.
  • Methamphetamine use is declining among our nation’s youth.
  • Drug treatment programs are highly effective in combating methamphetamine addictions.

Click here to read a printer-friendly version of the report. (The report is in a PDF format, and may take a minute to download).
