If you CANNOT get into Chat... READ ME!!!

First of all, read this thread and it may apply to you. Chat Policy.

If you have made less than 25 posts AND you have been a member for less than two weeks, you will not be able to access the Chat feature right away OR if you have been a member for longer than 6 months you can get in with 5 or more posts.

Members who have been active for six months or longer, must only have a total of five posts in order to access the chat rooms.

PTO is a HUGE board with TONS and TONS of information, support, and encouragement and chat is one of the smaller areas to find this.

Feel free to look around and participate in threads that have already been started. If you want feedback or have a question, start a thread in the forum that best relates to your question. For example, if you have a question about seeing the parole board in Texas, begin with the Texas forums because that is where you will find the most knowledgeable folks about that subject. If you just need to rant about having to deal with the situation, the Hear to Hear You forum is a great place!

And easy way to get started is by clicking "Unread Posts." This will show you threads that have recently been posted, but that you have not read.

Odds are that someone else has had the same question or worry that you have. Using the search feature is a great way to find posts/threads that are on the topic. On the top toolbar, you can see "Search." By clicking this, you can type in a key word or phrase and it will give you a list of all of the threads that contain that word or phrase.

Replying to a thread is easy to do. At the bottom of each thread, there is a box for you to type a reply. Or, if you would like to quote someone else'e response, simply click on quote in the same box as their reply, and it will take you to where you can type in your response. Click submit and you will see your post added to the thread!

To begin a new thread of your own, find the forum you want to post in. At the top of the screen in that forum is a blue button that says "New Thread." Click there and you will see a box similar to the one where you make replies, except you will need to include a title. Remember to be specific about what you are talking about! After you have typed your message, click submit and you will be taken to your new thread.

By posting in a thread or by creating your own thread, you will subscribe to it. That means that when you click User CP, you will see when someone else has replied.

Remember, it can take up to a couple of hours AFTER your 25th post for you to be able to access the chat feature!!

The site is a message board, not a chat room. There is often a delay in responses, but if you visit the Index Page --- http://www.prisontalk.com/forums/index.php --- I'm sure you'll find a topic you're looking for!

This is not the chat room hoosier. This is just a place that chat is discussed. You won't be able to get into chat until you have 25 posts and have been a member for 2 weeks.

To create a new thread, look at the top of the thread list in any forum for a button marked "New Thread", click on that and it will open a window where you can give your thread a title and type up what you want to say or ask. When you are done,click near the bottom where it says "Submit New Thread" and your thread will be posted.

PTO is not about chat rooms, but about the forums, readily information 24/7, and support you find in the forums.

The chat room, Arcade, etc. are just "fluff" features here for added benefit.

One of the main reasons the limitations were set into place is for all members protection. We had spammers, coming into the chat room, as well as people who were here to attack you because of your loved one being incarcerated. Now they have 2 weeks and 25 post before they can get into it. This helps because if someone is here to spam or attack they will show themselves before the time frame passes.

It does not take very long to get 25 post, with so many forums on PTO it is very easy!!

I was a PTO member back when anyone could join and come into the chat room, we were constantly being attacked by new members who were not here for supportive reasons, and had spam like crazy!

Be patient and you will be joining in on chat soon!

Thank you, even though you cant get into the chat thingy right away I do appreciate it u really trying to weed out all the bad people here to cause more drama.. cause honestly I’m tired of being ridiculed for having a good protein of my family and the love of my life behind bars. this would be the last place I would need hatred like that...so like I said before. i was say the same thing i thought chatting with one another was what it was all about
