Some criminals can't resist lure of self-incrimination on Internet Police are happy to use posted video, photos and other evidence against narcissistic lawbreakers.

"When a grand jury indicted Shawn Baker earlier this year on felony charges of sexually exploiting a minor, some of prosecutors' best evidence against Baker came from the Internet.
Baker, 19, took digital photos and video of himself with a 14- year-old girl, described by police as an acquaintance, which he then uploaded to the Web, according to Westbrook police.
"Baker told me he took the photos (of the girl) using his cell phone camera," Detective Sean Lally wrote in an affidavit alleging probable cause to charge Baker. "He said he sent the images via Instant Message to an online photo album."
The detective went online, looked at the photos and consulted with the Cumberland County District Attorney's Office, which charged Baker with sexual exploitation of a minor and dissemination of sexually explicit materials. Baker has pleaded not guilty to the charges, and his lawyer is contesting the evidence, saying it was illegally obtained. It's a local example of a global trend: People are posting evidence of their misdeeds -- from misdemeanor crimes such as theft, to felonies such as arson -- on the Internet. Those images are accessible to the rest of the world and are becoming a valuable source of evidence for police and prosecutors. ..."
