Where is your loved one locked up?

My boyfriend is in HMYOI Glen Parva in Leicester and he was in HMP Woodhilll in Milton Keynes for 6 months before being transfered to Glen Parva

Hi Alice, My hubby is in Bedford, his co-d is in Woodhill at the moment awaiting triall, I dont know Leics at all but its nice ti meet you Lorna x

I have a friend in a friend in HMP Latchmere House (Richmond, Surrey). Before he went there, he was in HMP Wormwood Scrubs and HMP Ford. Another friend is in HMP Belmarsh.

Hi Alice, I visit him every week in Bedford and its a very old building, so not the most pleasant experience (but when is it ever?) I am lucky its only about 1 hr drive it could be worse, he is on remand there and he says the conditions in there are awful. I took his suit and shirts straight from the drycleaners to the prison for court and the next day Dave was covered in mite bites!! Yuk, not just him others have this problem too. How is Leicester for Rafek?

Glen Parva is OK, he preferred day-to-day life in Woodhill but the visits were only 50 minutes, as apposed to the 2 hours we get in Glen Parva, so that is one plus side. He's been assulted by one of the officers in GP so I don't think it's a very good place.

Hi Sharonn01, are either you or Alice interested in a UK forum, I have left a post but had only 1 negative reply so far!! don't know about you but I'm sure there are plenty of brits in PTO just can't find them, would like to tho, please post a reply if your interested. Thankyou Lorna

My boyfriend is in Lewes (local prison, holding centre type thing)..sentenced two days ago and waiting to be transferred elsewhere. How long does it take to get transferred?

My friend works as a deputy governor at Guys Marsh in Shaftesbury..he's been great at advising and helping, given me loads of info.

My partner went to HMP Woodhill to start with for 2 months he hated it. He was then transferred to HPM The Mount in Hertfordshire, he prefers this one, it has good conditions & closer to home.

I would be very interested in this, I use PTO loads, I have had alot of support from the US forums, its fantastic but it would be great if we could have a UK forum just for us Brits.

hey my hunny was in lewes nowin camp hill on the isle of wight/ im in leicester its not good! i also tried the england site thing apparently prisonchat(which aint running yet )is the best we get!!
oh and can we chk our lovers phone lists like the americans do?

I thought it might be useful to have a thread for those members who have a loved one in a UK prison.

Please let us know where your loved one is located. Don't be too specific, you could even just say the county or the town if you don't wish to say which facility they are in.

So, I'll go first:

My name is Rachel and I am from Essex.
My brother was recently (3 months ago) released from HMP Wandsworth.
I also have a good friend who is at HMP Whitemoor.
My penpals are all over the world including Texas, California, Florida and Thailand.
I am married; have three grown up kids and a dog called Honey.

My boyfriend is on remand at HMP Maghaberry and I've no idea what will be happening after that. I'm kinda new to all this so have many questions I hope can be answered here.....
