my honey is there and it is a pain to visit, I have been given a hard time on several occasions when i was there. I will be glad when he is transferred back to SC where i am , Here you can visit all day instead of the hour and a half you get at NJSP.
Since you are coming from out of state they should give you the extended visit so that you can attend both visits but that all depends on who answers the phone when you call to request it. I did twice with no problems, then all of a sudden it was " he has to make the request in writing and 5 days is not enough time for it to be approved" mind you on my last visit I called on a Friday morning and requested a extended visit for the next day and it was granted.

Go figure.

Soon our time there will be over Praise GOD!!!

Thanks for the information about visiting. Hopefully it will work out for me to be able to get the extended visit... Do you know if I can visit on both Saturday and Sunday in the same weekend? When a phone call ends can he hang up and call me right back?

you can visit on both days, so be sure when requesting the extended visit to request it for both days. The phone just depends on how long he has the phone for, I have talked to my guy i think the most was three times but that may have been only once, we do have two calls quite often unless my money is funny then its only once.

Best of luck, maybe we will be visitng at the same time some time soon.

From what I understand, he will have to make the request in writing about two weeks before your planned visit. He needs to be very specific in his request and the reason for it. This should be explained in the Handbook but since I have not seen one lately, I can't tell you if they included this info. or not. Since Trenton is a lock-down prison, things are always more complicated, difficult and restrictive there. Are you sure he is going there?

Yes I am sure. He has been there for the last 30 days or so.

i have the latest handbook and it does not mention anything in regards to an extended visit. The two times we did get an extended visit His mom or I requested the visit. They told him about the first one but the second one he didn't even know i was coming up because neither did I until the day before the visit.

I asked for one when I visited--but that was several years ago. You could call and ask for the Mail Room [which is the same area where one registers to visit] - see if they have copies available that you can get when you go to visit.
