Hi, i'm new as well...I'm glad that you are looking for support before your son goes in--I expect that the holidays will be bitterweet for you. I would recommend trying to get as familiar as possible with this facility, because the more you can understand the rules the more it helps (I can't really say it's easier). I think that this is the link to where he is headed: http://www.bop.gov/inmate_programs/index.jsp Hang in there, and if you're feeling alone all you have to do is reach out...there are phenomenal, smart & sensitive people here.

As someone who has been inside just continue to give your love and support to your son, also don't pay attention to what other people say about people that go to prison Most families have a family member who has been to prison, or is in prison now.
PTO is a very good place for information and support welcome aboard. If you have any questions feel free to P.M. (private message ) me. I will do what I can to help you as well as the others here

Welcome. Just take this journey one step at a time. It's gonna be a long, hard journey but it's a journey that you can get through.

Welcome. I think one thing we all learn early on with prison bids is to be patient. Sometimes things seem to move at a snails pace (like day to day progress) but pretty soon all those days add up to a month, etc. Another is that no question or situation is a dumb one unless you don't ask about it. It was good to see you post right up front -- don't be shy. We're all here to help as much as we can, even if that means only listening to you venting. It's a healthy way to get frustrations out. Again, welcome aboard. May all proceed smoothly for you.
