On the coffee issue my fix is a little complex, i would just pop up the keys & clean under them.... but thats just me... there is probably a better way.

& yes you can use the same kind of cd to burn pictures too as music.

According to our computer guy at work, you can just put the keyboard in the dishwasher!!

I will have to ask him again if that is for ALL keyboards or only certain types. I know when I spilled a 44oz. soda on my work keyboard, he just blew on the keyboard with an air compressor strength type of air.

Ant's wife,
real smart move on avoiding the dishwasher. If moisture gets into the circuit board, it will conduct and you will have a brick instead of a keyboard. make sure you take out any batteries that may power your keyboard then take alcohol on a q-tip and go under the keys with it if there's space. if not there are probably 4-6 screws on the under side that you can remove and your keys will stay ontact and you just use the swabs w/alcohol from the bottom. you should see what look like little pins possibly with springs around them. Carefully wipe the pins and don't lose the springs. put the keyboard back together and you're back in business. The alcohol will evaporate so you don't have to worry about frying the board.

Keep coffee away from the keyboard is my motto, especially after accidentally knocking a whole cup onto the laptop keyboard. I tipped it straight over, then tried to dry it with a hairdryer. I melted the keys! Quick, unwanted trip to the computer store for me.

Good luck with your keyboard.

Default coffee on keyboard help

What you could do is buy a so-called industructable keyboard. Pour a gallon of coke on it and all it is going to be is sticky.

cyberguys has them, as does Frys.

Now, what I use is a Z-board from SteelSeries. They ROCK.

Music and data CD's are often different. You may need to make sure they will do what you want. Although, with the price of harddrives dropping and capacity going up, you may want to save them on there.
Flash memory is a good choice too, I looked at some 8gb sticks at wallyworld for like $25. And you can format it and put new stuff on it.

Most good keyboards have a rubber diaphram under the keys to protect the contacts for drinkers. Some cheap keyboards don't.
To clean a good keyboard you can open it up without pulling the keys off for cleaning. Remove any batteries if wireless or unplug if wired. Suggest taking warm soapy water and a sponge, holding the keyboard upside down wash off the keyboard squeezing solution in and under the keys. Shake out water and blow out with compressed air. Be carefull not to blow off the keys. You can buy PC air cans or go to local tire store and use theirs if you do not have a compressor. Let it sit and finish drying next to a fan or hair dryer on LOW heat. Do not use a heat gun. Do not use nail polish remover to take off stains. Nail polish remover contains acetone which will disolve plastic.
