Default Something I don't even want to think about

So my boyfriend is on a Life 10, but in Canada he supposedly has a good chance of getting parole at the 10 year mark for following his correctional plan and good behaviour, etc.

Well he has this parole hearing in 2 years which will make it 10 years. However, he can end up not getting it and then having to go to a parole hearing in another 2 years. I don't even want to think about that happening, but at the same time I guess I should take it in that it is a possibility.

I pray that the board will see all that he has done and look at his original case and see that he was sentenced too harshly and all of that and hopefully he will be released. I am praying G*d please let him be released.

The unknown is always scary... so I cant imagine how stressful not knowing may be.

Just out of curiosity... why did you block out the "o" in God. lol I know thats irrelevant but just curious.

Anyway, I hope good things come your way in the future

Yeah, it's probably a typeo but some people don't say "Oh My god" or "Hope to God" cause they find it offensive for some odd reason. Maybe that's why. My best friend gets all butt hurt when I say, "Oh my God".

I put the star in the word as to not offend anyone, it wasn't a typo. Some folks get offended...and I think on a Jewish site is where I originally saw some people doing that. I do it merely out of respect for others who don't like it.

I really wish you the best, as I'm in the same boat right now, but all I can say is try to stay in between...Don't get excited but stay prepared for the best...If that makes sense! I know it's hard staying in the *grey* area...But it's kinda what you need to do. I don't know what life 10 means, but if it means he has possible life, then I wouldn't get your hopes up for parole. At least try not to...I've seen close friends of mine have their husbands denied even being model inmates...Then again I've seen awful inmates get paroled. Just try to stay grounded in the middle, try not to get excited but don't look at it 100% negatively.

I'm going through the same thing, only the opposite mindset - I hope my husband STAYS in cause he's sure as hell not ready to be home! So if you need someone, I am here!

i think its best to think about all the possibilities just so you can be prepared mentally. and if you think about worst case senerio you will really appreciate when the best case happens. keep praying and good things will follow. all the best!!

when I have to deal with two possibilites prison system is giving me, I always deal with the worse of it, as the better one will be easy to deal with, if it happens. so no matter if you like it or not, you may do well to speak about the possibility he might have to wait longer for his parole....

I dont say this to sound unsupportive or making your life harder: i say it, as it is easier to DEAL with things as to push them away.

it all will come down to the question. if he does not get parole then, will you leave him? if you say clear "no of course not", you already did deal with it.... as it is either in his nor in your hands what will happen. praying helps for sure, but we never know all reasons for why things happen the way He (God) makes them happen.

is Canada different in their ways of dealing with parole? is there a chance he will get his first parole hearing granted? in teh US it seems not to be this way, this is why I ask.
I really wish you guys the best! but please dont hope too much, as it is so easy to get disappointed. much better to get a good surprise..... ok?

I hear what you are saying about the questions I would need to deal with.

I won't leave him if he doesn't get parole. I will definitely pray about it...for guidance and help for whatever outcome occurs.

Also, I am not really sure about how it works here in Canada, but he says that he has a good chance of making parole because he has maintained a good record, and is following his correctional plan. I think that I should do my own research on it though because I need to come to terms with whatever possibility is stronger, because if he has a strong chance of doing another 2 years, then that could be very upsetting.

One of the 10 Commandments - Do not take the Lord's name in vein. I do get annoyed that Oh my God has become such a common response.

all I learned: ...... not to have faith when there is any power in the system: good surprises are what make my day!
wishing you good luck!
