Default Fox Lake Minimum Rules

Fox Lake seems to be a little tight on the information supplied publicly. I have gotten their visiting hours, though limited, but at least there are some.

Does anyone have specifics like the other facilities in terms of how sensitive the metal detectors are? How much money can you bring in? Should it be all quarters or dollars? In a plastic bag?

Any other information would be helpful.

Thanks.

Here is what I know from recent visits.
  1. Yes money needs to be in a plastic bag. You can get one there for free. It has to be all quarters. The machine does give you quarters and those gold dollars.
  2. No metal dectors for min.
  3. At least 20 can go in. I always just bring all quarters.
  4. You check in at the front and then drive over to the min. side
  5. Dress code is pretty relaxed. No booty shorts, or low cut shirts, tank tops. I have worn flip flops with no issues.
  6. Co are pretty cool
  7. Nice outside area you can go sit. Kids playing area available. Only thing is once you are outside you have to have your whole visit out there.
  8. Visiting room is comfortable
Hope that helps

Thank you, that is helpful. So, no metal detectors, does that mean I can wear a regular bra? At Jackson had to avoid that. What about jewelry, within reason of course? Simply a ring or a pair of earrings.

Thanks.

Yes you can wear a regular bra. I usually have on earrings, two rings, and a bracelet. Jeans or Jean shorts, t-shirt and flip flops or gym shoes. Guards are nice and the place is clean.

Thank you for all the information. The visit was nice, it was a beautiful day, so we sat outside. The only thing is, if you get there closer to 5:30 than 5, you have to wait until about 6 as my luck, I timed it that they had just started count so had to wait.

Facilities are nice, though the visiting area in the building was a little uncomfortable, due to the size of chairs vs tables, but not bad at all.

sorry I forgot about count. We always go in the morning or after 6. Yes the tables and chairs are crazy. That is how it is in all correctional places. Short tables and big chairs. I am glad you had a nice visit.
