Default George Porter Resentenced to Life
"George Porter, 77, arrived in the courtroom in a wheelchair. He’s been on death row since the 1986 murders of Evelyn Williams, a former girlfriend, and her companion, Walter Burrows."

A judge has resentenced Mr Porter to life after the DA decided not to go after another DP sentence. Mr Porter described his war experiences to the court. The SC had vacated his sentence and ordered that his combat experience and possible PTSD be considered as mitigating factors.

One does have to wonder just what possible purpose could be served by executing a 77 year old man who is confined to a wheelchair. This is good news indeed.
