Default Russell Hudson - Florida Death Row

I knew Russ many years ago when I worked in the Florida DOC. I was shocked to see he was released and is now back in and on Death Row. He was such a nice young man and I felt he had so much going for him. He was a trustee in mental health back then. Are they really executing inmates in Florida again? If I was to try to write a letter to him would he receive it? I just want to be able to show some support and extend some loving kindness to a precious soul.

Death row inmates are permitted to receive mail and I'm sure he would appreciate hearing from you. And yes, Florida executed 2 inmates in 2009 and 1 so far in 2010. There are currently 2 with active death warrants.

Good luck to you with your friendship. It is sad to know where he is I'm sure. Here is a link to the current rules and it does tell you how to address the mail, etc. I'm sure he'll love to hear from you.

Wink I did it!

Well I sent a letter to him. I was in the airport writing in while waiting for a flight. They then asked for volunteers to give up their seat till the next flight. For doing so I got a Delta ticket to fly anywhere they go in the US up to $400. I decided that was a sign. If he answers my letter I will go to see him. Its been 14 years. We spent alot of time together in the past. He was a beautiful, untouchable object of my desire. Just prior to being moved he showed me a tattoo with my name on it. I knew he felt the same things for me as I for him. Anyway alot of time has passed and those days are behind is. However, I do want to be his friend and to be there for him. I hope I am doing the right thing because I couldn't bear to see him die. I know I am capable of fighting for him. Can anyone tell me how long it waits to be approved at Union CI and if so, how long is the visit and will we have contact? Thank you,

I'm sure he will be thrilled with your letter and I'm sure you will hear from him soon. I'm not sure how long it takes to be approved or how long visits are for but I know they have contact visits (no glass)

Approval for visits in Florida takes no more than 30 days. The only problem is if he happens to already have 15 people on his list, he's going to have to wait until the next time he has an opportunity to change his list to do that. Visits are Sat and Sun from 9AM to 3PM. From what I've heard DR visits are pretty much the same as regular visits anywhere in Florida DOC and, yes, they are contact visits.

Wow! I am really excited. It has been at least 14 years. He still looks the same but I know I have changed so much. We worked so closely together and he was just a great person. He did 12 years for second degree murder and was released at 30. His victim was a man that his father had sold him to for sex. Anyway. he was released and within 2 years locked up again and this time got the death penalty. He got out of prison with no family, no work experience so I imagine thats how he started selling drugs. So the story goes. Anyway, wow it would be great to see him. I want to help him try to get his sentence reduced in some way. I just hope they abolish the death penalty before he becomes a victim of it. Thank you for all the information!
