Default I hate to even ask - but what are the penalties for stamps?

I took my fiance stamps to visit today - and for the first time ever the guard shack officer pulled my fiance aside (only offender he did this too BTW) and said he would be doing a strip search on him because he was "Jiggering" (being a lookout for another inmate so they could do something illegal) Which is totally FALSE.

He says he saw the whole act on camera, but the only thing we did was walk around inside and stand by a window for a few minutes, then walk over the "DOC Procedures" wall to read about the visit policy. He looked towards the outside a few times, because someone was standing inside the breezeway acting crazy.... Then we walked outside and walked around for quite awhile before going inside.

But anyways - before the officer began searching him, my fiance offered up the stamps I had given him (Wasn't trying to hide them) and the officer then stripped him, looked at the stamps, and then proceeded to make fun of him for just sneaking in stamps.... Then told him he was going to give him a class X write up.

Is that the right discipline for stamps? As far as the "jiggering" goes - I'll fight that until the end - since that wasn't a true accusation anyhow!

I'm worried now.... and I've been reading over policy and it seems it would only be a class B, not a class X.

(Sorry for the long post. )

Dang, girl. That's awful, sorry to hear it. I'm not sure the penalty. Is it considered contraband? Or even a form of currency?

I am terrified / paranoid to bring anything in, fearing getting caught and having my visitations "revoked".

I hope it's not a Class X.

you smuggled in contraband, it doesn’t matter if it was just stamps, cell phone or drugs. They will more than likely also stop you visits.

I am aware of my visits being suspended. I am asking about the type of write up.

We chose to do the stamps because some of the guards allow them.... Which the visiting officer knew I brought them. He said it was ok....

I am not looking for judgment I am asking a question about the class write up.

I'm no "expert" but it looks like Class B from the Operations manual.
Good luck.

Not to state the obvious, but this really pisses me off. How much b.s. is it for the visiting officer to KNOW you brought in stamps, ALLOW you to bring in stamps, and then write him up for contraband and suspend your visits!!!!!

This is wrong on so many levels......but talk about a hard lesson learned, you can't trust ANY ONE in there.

I'm sorry they are doing this especially since they knew you had the stamps to bring him. Hope things work out and they drop all this!

Things turned out terribly to say the least..... Here is what all happened.

Friday, J went and spoke to the guard that wrote him up and then went and spoke to his CM (who stated that he would not "be hit over the head with this write up") and that I would be allowed to visit Saturday.

So Saturday morning I got there early, like always, and waited outside for 3.5 hours - I was allowed in and searched (and was forced to lift my hoodie, exposing my breasts to the entire room of visitors and male officers!) and then was told to go ahead - I then purchased about $20 worth of vending machine food (visits get very full so everyone stocks up before the inmates come down) - went to the bathroom - and when I came out a few minutes later the female guard told me I had to leave - without my food and I was no longer allowed to visit (as this was my second time of sneaking in contraband (not true!!)

All the while, they had called Jeff down for visit and when he made it to the guard shack they made him stand in front of the camera monitor and watch them tell me my visits were indefinitely suspended.... He was made to watch me break down in tears and be harassed by the guards before he was allowed to go back to his unit.

They knew all along that visit would not be allowed but they waited for me to spend all my money and then waited for him to get into the guard shack so they could humiliate the both of us.

We know that visits won't be suspended for more than 90 days (that's all they can do based on the write up and according to his CM) After I told the guards that the CM stated I could visit the worst woman (numerous complaints have been made on her alone!!) said that the CM has no authority over them and they can do what they choose (another lie - the CM has a higher rank than any of the lowly visitation guards!)

So needless to say, I am filing a sexual harassment charge against the guard in visit for making me expose myself in the middle of the visit room (had she asked me to step into the little room all would be fine) and we are filing a charge against the guards for treating an inmate and his family with humiliation....

It was not a good day - the worst part was knowing I was so close and then being yanked away.

On another note!

The guard that knew about the stamps was also allowing men to leave visitation with food and drinks - then when they would get to the guard shack they were being reprimanded with write-ups and extra duty for having them!

The inmates were asking all the guards if they could take stuff up and all said YES!!!

Just another thing they do to be butt heads.

I'm just so sorry this is happening to you both! I can't even imagine what you felt being humiliated like that and him having to watch you go thru that without being able to do anything about it. Mine, I'm sure would've flipped and got another write up. That's just him though-act then think.

I wish you the best with your complaints! I don't know how you kept your cool in front of them.

Anmyers, I am so sorry you had to go thru so much humiliation, and Yes I agree with you, they should have taken you into a room and not searched you like that in front of all, I would not only make the complaints but write to the head honcho at DOC, especially when one of the guards said it would be ok for you to bring the stamps in, I also dont know how you kept your cool, and to have your loved one watch as this was happening to you, seems to me they wanted him to react so they had a reason to write him up further. Its disgusting how visitors are treated by these dam supercops on a trip because they have a uniform on. Also to wait on you purchasing food before telling you that you cannot visit is incredible, I would have demanded my money back. One day there time will come, and wish they had never been so mean, I beleive in what goes around comes around, lets hope this woman who humiliated you, gets hers in good time.

I hope they reconsider for you to visit and you dont have to wait the 3 months, I remember how long 8 months was, when I could not to visit my Baby, because they wouldnt approve me at tht time!

Thanks everyone for your kind words.

J talked to the Deputy Warden (Warden has retired at JLCC) and she stated that she was sure his write up was being suspended (Thank GOD!!!) but he has yet to hear for sure.

He has since been harassed by many guards and even has some guards giving out copies of his paperwork, files from his jacket. Which is jeopardizing his safety at this point. He has now been threatened and the guards he has spoken to find it hilarious....
I have filed complaint after complaint about the things that have gone on down there - and so far it has gotten me nowhere. They look at my complaints as a sad fiancee who isn't allowed to visit.

We'll see what they think when my attorney gets involved.

I spoke to the Deputy Warden today, and she said she has seen my letter, stating my visits would be suspended for a certain amount of time, but can't remember signing it or what it said - she said she would call me back today to give me the news about my visits and if I haven't heard from her by 4 I need to call her back.

So everyone, stay tuned for my 4pm update.

Default I'm sorry...

I appreciate all the advice you have given me, and i just wanted to let you know how freaking ridiculous that is. You are obviously very devoted to your fiancee. And i can tell you will do whatever you can to make his life easier. He's lucky to have you. Keep on keepin' on!

90 day suspended visit period.... So February 21st I'll be back.

The visitation guard that allowed us to bring/have the stamps recommended the max amount of time - which we got.

I pray it goes fast!

As far as being threatened or even if any ask about his crime-he now just needs to fess up or explain if they listen. This happened this year to mine when an inmate got mad at him and had his fiance look him and then told everyone the wrong story and some ignored him and others asked if it was true. At least get the right conviction if they are going to start something. He swears things are OK. I told him if it's not then I will beat the loud mouths female friends up. LOL! After a short while and when the other guys friend left things were fine and then he wanted to be friends-he was shipped out short while later. What I'm trying to say is this will go away also. It's just new gossip but do tell him to be careful. CO's do let papers out by certain inmates they have issues with and he won't be the last.

Yeah, it is unbelievable they allow these things to happen.

He was fired from his job yesterday as well - because the department he works under is "Under Investigation" they fired all but one person (the one that has been doing the illegal activity!!) ....

After I made the complaint yesterday with deputy warden (about the exposing my breasts issue at visit) about 10 men came to J saying things were going to get very hard for him because I can't keep my big mouth shut... I hadn't told a single soul other than the deputy warden and now all kinds of inmates know!!

What happened to confidentiality!!! I hate prison politics

You posted everything on here and then think it is the Dep Warden that tells everything???????

You have some staff that read this, you have family members that are looking for ways to help their love one earn extra money from black mailing other families.

A word to the wise, if it is against the rules don't do it. EVEN if a staff person says it is ok because some of them might just be setting a trap for you and I'm sorry but in your case you walked right into it. Don't ever think that it is just staff you have to protect yourself and your love one from because there are other inmates and some of their families just waiting to use you for any number of reasons or make you pay for protection.

Do you honestly think about the way you say things on here?!? A lot of the things you seem to say come off very hateful.

I know I broke the rules by taking stamps in... I am accepting of this... the concern now is about things I stated to the warden that ONLY she knew... that I hadn't even posted on this site, in fact, things I had never discussed with anyone - not even my fiance - and he told me about them over the phone yesterday evening....

I was just going to comment on the job thing. The first of August-JCCC-MSU put all the inmates that were on road crew in SHU. Someone got word that the inmates were sending letters, calls out to loved ones to meet them at certain times at certain roads they would be working to see them so all of them were fired-no warning. Our friend confirmed that she also received a letter stating this. Just too much to risk for a short visit compared to more time and the CO's in charge of that crew knew and allowed/gave them cigarettes before it was allowed back in the system.

As Watchdog said-just never trust anyone. I have watched CO's let some inmates and families get away with certain things and then another set of families get corrected for the same thing. Now watch-I'll be punished if I ever get to visit before his release now. LOL! I'm laughing now cause I'll be furious if I am later. We are on their (CO's) territory so it's their game if they so choose.

anmyers,
I'm not trying to be mean or hateful
What happened to confidentiality is there is none.
I've never taken anything in to my son...ever
Even the minimum he is at now.
Never trust anyone except yourself.
I would rather go through this and the DOC never remembers we were there.
But I also know sometime you need to be the voice of the person you love that is in prison.
Just have to choose the right battle, you can't fight all of them
