Hi, I'm Buddhist. There are lots of good books about Buddhism, but my favorite ones are the ones the Dalai Lama wrote. They're simple and clear !!
Have a nice day, sorry for my english, I'm italian..
Hugs

Go online & read about the 4 noble truths & the eightfold path I found it very revealing I'm not so experienced but I've been exploring Buddhism alot lately & theres also different sects, I've chosen Mahayana & it's mostly about attaining nirvana in this 1 lifetime we have where some sects believe in rebirth etc etc I don't really think Buddhism is a hardcore religion to follow so if you're beliefs are mostly atheist, then so be it

I'm sorry I'm late on this post; there are few calls for a Buddhist on this site so I don't check in as often as I might. I am a practicing Buddhist.

The Buddha said not to worship him as he was just a man. Though there are some Buddhists sects that worship him anyway, they do not question that he made that statement. So if he is not a god, then are Buddhists athiests? There is some debate within the Buddhist community but it is considered a very small and insignificant issue. The debate is over whether Buddhists are athiests or agnostics.

Personally, I come down on the agnostic side of the argument. When asked about a creator type god, the Buddha simply said that if there were such an entity, our puny human brains couldn't possibly comprehend such a being - so better work on something we can understand, ourselves. So, he didn't say there wasn't a god -didn't say there was.
