Reclassification/Time Reduction/ISP?

Hey everyone, I read a new term (to me) today. Reclassification. Is this just where they review his custody, A, B etc. ? Does this ever address the inmates time? Is there any oversight for excessive sentencing? I've talked now to several lawyers and they all say the same thing. My husband is the property of the MDOC, the courts have nothing to do or say about him now since sentencing. That being said, does the MDOC have the power to reduce his sentenece? Can the MDOC over ride the judge's sentence?

I read a lot a questions on this site today about time reduction, letters of recomendation from a Judge, letters of support from friends, family, clergy, community support. My question is this, for what are people collecting these letters? Are they to give to case workers, parole board, Christopher Epps?

Obviously I want what we all want, to get my inmate home as soon as possible. I feel as though I am grasping at straws at this point. He is ineligible for parole due to a Drive By charge. What about being sent to ISP? Does the MDOC have the power to transfer him to ISP as easily as they could transfer him to another facility?

Sorry for rambling, I am just . . . getting frustrated.
