Default Finally, a Modified Lockdown...its a start.

News Release from: Oregon Dept. of Corrections
Posted: May 3rd, 2011 9:55 AM

Oregon State Penitentiary Transitions to Modified Lockdown

The Oregon State Penitentiary transitioned from emergency lockdown status to modified lockdown - alert status, May 2, 2011, at 2:15 p.m. The Penitentiary served its first hot meal May 1 in the inmate dining room since the emergency lockdown began April 27.

Inmates were served three hot meals in the inmate dining room, May 2. The institution will continue to restore normal operations throughout the week.

"We are slowly returning inmates to work and program assignments. Inmate behavior will determine how smoothly the transition to normal operations occurs," said Superintendent Jeff Premo.

The yard and outside activities will continue to be restricted while the institution is on alert status. Modified visiting will begin Wednesday, May 4. Inmates with an even number as the second to last digit of their SID number will visit on Wednesday, May 4 and Friday, May 6. Inmates with an odd number as the second to last digit of their SID number will visit on Thursday, May 5 and Saturday, May 7.

Visiting will return to normal operations Sunday, May 8.

Visitors should be aware that there will be an influx of visitors May 8, due to it being Mother's Day. As is normal procedure, a waiting list will be started once our visiting room reaches capacity. In an effort to allow everyone an opportunity to visit, some visitors who begin visiting at the start of the visiting session may be asked to volunteer to leave half way through visiting to allow other visitors an opportunity to visit. This procedure occurs as a last resort when there is a waiting list.
