Please be patient. He's probably going through the intake process, and he's not allowed to make calls or write out until the process is over. It could take up to 60 days. But please write to him! He will get your letters and know that's he's not forgotten. Take a breath and know that this will end too. This is probably the hardest time, but it will pass. Check out the sub forums in the TDCJ What You Need to Know Forum about phones, correspondece, and visitation. They should help. Hopefully, you will hear from him soon! Good luck!

My son only has 40 days to finish his sentence so I think it is pointless to wait 90 days to receive mail from him.. Please respond to me with any more info to help me out... Also if you would please pray for my son and me and my family.. It has been really rough and Im glad someone like you understands.. What is jpay and j mail and how does that work.. We are in the process of updating info for the TX forums, but here is the quick answer to your question. I will send you a pm with info about how to navigate this site. Hang in there. This will all be over soon!

How Should I address mail to an offender in TDCJ?

Letters sent to offenders should include the offender’s name, TDCJ number, and unit/facility address on the envelope. All mail addressed to offenders must be received through authorized channels. Letters for different offenders should not be included in the same envelope.

Can I send email to an offender?

Offenders can now receive incoming eMessages. To register, please contact JPAY at 1-866-333-5729 or www.jpay.com on the web.

Only incoming mail is available. The offender is not allowed to return the e-mail. Friends and family members must purchase electronic stamps on-line from www.jpay.com (the price of a US postage stamp). The message to the offender is completed on-line and sent to the JPAY facility interface. TDCJ unit mailroom staff download and review incoming messages, and upon approval, the messages are printed and delivered to the offender. Generally, if the facility receives the email before 2 PM, the offender receives the eMessage that day at mail call.

Hey how are you doing? I was the same way when my hubby got transferred to Dominguez. He would have to have money on his books and make store if not he just have to borrow paper and pen from some one. And it does take a little time for him to write or even call you. Have you register your phone? If so just wait he will call but if he just got there the has to get to pod for him to be able to so the regular stuff he was doing at county. Mail is slow and Dominguez I hate it I live in Houston and it takes about 3 days for get mail and when I do I get like 3 letters. But you should call up there. But I do know if you have his number you can Jpay him he get those right away. I am all new to this but I have found out alot of info so I kinda know the process already. Hope all goes well.
