Default Bad break out

I was wondering if anyone has suggestions on breaking out. I have been breaking out for oh I'd say a month pretty bad..More then normal for sure. What are some things you do to help cure/stop it? I use a good facewash when I shower, but it's not helping right now :-/

Have your eating habits changed in the last month? I know the foods I eat have a lot to do with it when I break out...which is very rare by the way. What face wash do you use?

Cut back on the sodas and try to reduce your stress level- from your other posts, it looks like you've got a lot going on and emotional stress DOES show up on your skin.

Get a bar of plain ol' Ivory soap or other soap with no dye or perfume (PhisoDerm liquid is the best thing for breakouts or acne prone skin good but a bit pricy and I have no clue what your budget for grooming is) and wash your face twice a day, *gently*- nothing scrubby- just warm water, soap lather and your fingertips.- your skin is irritated and scrubbing is just irritating it more.
Use a moisturizer with a sunscreen in it-again one that's not dyed or scented- plain ol' Olay Complete Daily Moisture is my pick.

Treat the pimples with a peroxide based acne gel or cream twice a day and dab Witch Hazel on in between to soothe the inflamation.

In the future, use a scrub only once or twice a week- you don't need to exfoliate every day and it can leave your skin more sensitive

Where can you get PhisoDerm liquid? I have never heard of it before. And what's witch Hazel? I am pretty broke, but I spend like $7 on my face wash as it is and its not doin the job too well so I am willing to spend whatever I have when I am all broke out. I used to use proactiv, it worked really well, but it ended up getting to costly!

This is gonna sound really strange but I swear it helps me. Chlorine. Really. Like if you have access to a hottub or pool....get your face really wet....scrub it a little. Its worked for me like a charm in the past.

If that's not doable....I also use the St. Ives Medicated Apricot Scrub. The blemish and blackhead control. I won't use anything else on my face.

I use this Equate Daily Face Wash one and it works really good. Its only 2.37 a bottle and I use it every other day. I also use an Aveeno moisturizer with SPF. My face is as clear as a babys bottom lol. Like Lebeau said though...stress WILL show up on your face so maybe relax a little and take some *me* time for yourself

Witch Hazel is cheap and available at any grocery, drugstore or pharmacy- usually right near the peroxide and rubbing alcohol.

Phisoderm is usually with either the acne treatments or facial cleansers and is widely available (I get it at Walgreens or Rite-Aid)
Here's a picture and more info about the PhisoDerm cleanser I like best.

And someone else mentioned the St. Ives products- They are really good, quite cheap and widely available at drug and discount stores, as well as some groceries- try the sample/travel size bins so you can "test drive" them before you commit to a full size tube/bottle.

I am a huge believer in herbs and natural remedies.

I would google something like "herbs and acne" and get some ideas.

If you had spare time, go to gnc and talk to the reps there about possible herbal supplements.

Everyone always ask how my face is so clear...even as a teenager....americans are known for being "too clean"...this is why we have more acne problems. I do not use face wash every time I shower...it drys the face too much which causes clogged pores... I would recommend MOISTURIZER!!....the one thing I use faithfully every single day.

I had bad skin for many, many years and still get break outs from time to time, especially that time of the month. I switched my face wash to Purity Philosophy and started using MD Forte moisturizer (I buy both online at drugstore.com). I realized my breakouts were from my skin being too dried out, especially from all these acne products that promised to make my skin look great. I swear I tried every product on the market, including every thing mentioned here. Ugh! Also I work out A LOT, go in the sauna and sweat a lot and drink tons of water. And I do swim several times per week (as one person pointed out about chlorine). I get stupid hairs on my chin like a little old lady and I do tweeze them, so sometimes one or two will become ingrown hairs which turn into pimples. I hate those! Wish I could make those dumb hairs go away forever. Tried everything.
