Default Visits at Noble

My husband was transferred to Noble last week. I am planning on taking our 6 year old son to visit with me next week. I would like to be able to give him a step by step explanation of what to expect so he won't be scared. Can anyone tell me what we can expect to happen? Is it similar to CRC? Thanks.

After I wrote that I thought others may have the same question so I am posting it here. This is only my experience.

The COs and guards are all very nice and will even joke around with you. Make sure that you follow all the rules and are respectful. When you enter the building there is a desk to the left. You will need to sign in there and present all of your ids. If you are wearing clothing that is innappropriate, they will tell you here. I suggest being super-conservative. I usually wear a t-shirt or sweatshirt. Follow the rules on the visitors packet. They will give you visitors passes. You will need to put coats, purses, anything in your pockets into a locker. You will need a quarter for the locker, but will get ti back when you leave. There is a kiosk to put money on his phone and commissary accounts if you want to do it that way. If you are going to get him anything to eat or drink, you will need a vending card. There is a machine on the wall for that as well. The card costs $3 and you will need a 5 dollar bill initially. You can then add money to the card and keep it for future visits.

There is a small waiting area where you will wait until they call you back. They call people back in the order they arrive and about 8-10 at a time. You will have to walk through a metal detector. Know that if you wear a lot of jewelry, hairpins, belts, etc you may have to take them off to get through. They will stamp your left hand. The group will go through a door, it closes and then the visiting room door opens. You will go to the CO's desk and he will assign you a table. You will sit on one side and you husband on the other. When he comes in you are allowed to hug him and kiss him. You can hold hands through the visit. I believe the kids can sit on his lap (I don't have kids, but I've noticed that they allow a lot of interaction between the inmate and kids). There are vending machines for food and drinks and a playroom for the kids.

I hope that helps, if I missed anything let me know. I am going for a visit next week as well. I hope all goes well for you!!
