I have a question for anyone who's loved one completed milestones, how long did it take for them to receive their new release date? My husband completed milestones the first week of Jan an still hasn't gotten his new date.

Default Paroling homeless

My ex made friends with someone that then got transferred to Tehachapi...so I became his penpal because he has no family..so he paroles in a couple weeks (I think Feb. 7th, 2012) and he has noone to pick him up and no where to go...he is from Lancaster....does anyone know what the prison does for someone who is paroling homeless with no ride or anything?

I'm not positive, but I think I read somewhere about being dropped off at a homeless shelter. But I'm not sure. Someone will come along that knows though and they will be able to help you out

Some of the inmates where my husband is at, CRC Norco, have told me that at time of their release they give them $200.00 cash. For then to use for food or to get home, or destination if they don't have anyone picking then up.

I do know that in CA....(that's where I'm from and have a couple inmates in as well as some already released) and they were given a check for 200.00 when they were released. If they had no one there to pick them up, they were given a bus ticket and taken to the nearest bus station. I'm not sure where the bus ride took them but it was the same general place for everyone and I guess then they needed to figure out where to go from there. They didn't have to use any of the 200 on bus fare. But that was a few years back and things could have changed

My some what of an uncle was released from Tehachapi back in Nov. He was listed as homeless when he paroled out. Each inmate is given $200.00. He was then taken to the Tehachapi bus station and there he was taken to Bakersfield to the Greyhound bus station and he brought a ticket to come home. Your penpal mre than likely have to buy a bus ticket from Bakersfield to Lancaster and then go from there. At least he will be in his hometown. Lancaster is actually only about 30 minutes from Lancaster and an hr from Bakersfield so hopefully once he get out to the prison gates he can calls someone to come and get him...Wish him luck

As I understand it, they do give them gate money (the 200 dollars)
they will bring them to the bus station (but not sure if its in Tehachapi, or Bakersfield)
If you called the facility, they would probably tell you (where they take them to)
As far as resources for a place to stay, he'd likely be able to get some info at the parole office once he reports.
calling 211 also may be able to assist him in finding a place to stay. (shelters, etc....)

Also note: if any of the $200 gate money is spent on food, shelter, clothing, etc. within the prison release/parole check-in period... Advise the inmate to render the receipt to their parole office for a reimbursement! It is clearly stated in the memorandum/title 15 (sorry, I don't have the exact page[s] to state, as of right now)... There is a lot of financial resources available to them --- if they persistently inquire about it!!

Hubs parole officer didnt come here as hub cant live here.
I sent dress outs about 5 weeks or so ahead of his release date.
I sent a pair of jeans, and a shirt. He decided to wear the shoes I got for him while in, and same with undies, socks....
My folks went down to get him (they are much closer than I was) and I gave them his belt and watch, and wedding ring.

Sidewalker, may I ask why your hubbie could not go home to you? Is this common? Who blocks them from coming home?

I believe they release them at the same building that you go to visit. (the visitors processing center)
I think it was about 7ish to 7:30 and it took them till 10 am to get him out the door.

Hub cant live here because of his restrictions on residency. He's an rso.

I have picked up 2 parolees so far and it has been different each time. They want you there when the doors open in the visiting area so you can check in to let them know you are there. They will not start processing them right away unless they know someone is there to pick them up. If they do not have a person picking them up they can take their time on releasing them. I got there at 6:45 am the first time I waited till about 11:00. The second time I arrived at 6:45 am he did not come out until 1:00. It depends on how many guys are coming out. They have to drive them all to records than medical and than to change their clothes. One guy forgot his meds so they had to go back to medical to get them.. They ALL have to go back !! it all depends on who is doing what and how many need to tie loose ends. It will never be the same time as another person.. It is always different..

I'm curious too. I'm going to call tomorrow and ask the R&R department "just in case" a new procedure has been placed. You never know. I have my husbands Dressouts sitting right next to me and it's going out tonight. I've just got to wait a few more days and we will be done with this hell hole. Years ago it was not this bad.

When my hub was released, he said,
His yard, got breakfast first
co calls you and sends you to R&R
verify id, change to street clothes,
gather records there, send everyone to admin area, then walked over to finance to recieve gate money and last bit of money (if they have had a job in there)
then driven to front gate, id check again, release to whomever is picking them up.

My bf told me he has to report the next day after his release but when i looked it up on THE CDCR WEBSITE THIS IS WHAT IT SAID:
When you get out, you will have to report to parole at the time you were told to report. If you get out on a weekday, you should go right to your parole office. If you get out on a weekend or holiday, you should go to the parole office the very next day it is open.

Hope this helped

I may be in the wrong spot but I'm going to attempt here first. My boyfriend is coming to live with me at my parents house when he paroles. Does anyone know what they look for and how it goes? I understand the common stuff like drugs, guns knives but it there any other things? We live in a small 2 bedroom condo and I'm fearful they won't let him live here. Any advise/tips would be greatly appreciated.
