New Here from Ont. Son incarcerated in AB

Hi...
I'm new to all this...my son has recently been put in jail,presently in the Edmonton Remand Centre, but will probably be going to Drumheller (sp) after sentencing.
So happy to find this forum.
I will probably ask a million questions, cry and vent, and hopefully find a friend or 2 that I can talk with.

Never felt so helpless in my life....
My son Colin will be 22 on Sunday and I hate that he is in jail.

My son turned 22 in jail. I feel terrible that he is there, but as you say, we are totally helpless and cannot control what goes on in there for them.
My son is presently in Warkworth and god willing, should be out this summer. Wait and see, that is all we can do.

It must be hard for you having a son in jail that far away. I am a 5hr drive away but that is nothing compared to your distance. Hopefully we can answer your questions and be here to support you when you need it. Take care. sandy

This is a great place to get support.
My husband is in the drumheller pen right now and looking at a life sentence. I understand the pain that you are feeling.

my spouse has been in drum now 5 months if you have any questions on how it works out there let me know... it was hard to find info at first but ive almost got it figured out now and would be happy to share

Hi there....your post really resonates with me. I also have a son in jail - he spent a couple of months in Calgary Remand Centre but last night I found out he is in Grande Cache. It is really hard as I am overseas living in the UK. I have talked to him for a total of about 20 minutes since the middle of January. We had daily contact before this....
He turned 20 in the Remand Centre - it just feels unbelievable and you are right, I feel helpless.
I was also happy to find this forum - it is a comfort to know there are other people going through the same thing.
You posted this a few months ago - I wonder how things have developed for you?
