Default Why couldn't the police do anything when Mom stole from my brother & I??

Ok,i'm not sure where exacty this post belongs, but, i've been having an issue trying to figure something out. About 3 years ago, my mon was stealing my brother's and my things, he was 13 then, and i was 11. My grandmother tried telling the police, but they said couldn't do anything. That didn't sound weird at the time, but now it does. Why couldn't they have done anything?? What my mom stole was so important to us, and it ruined our family relationship forever. My brother was living with my mom then(and now). What went down there?? Why didn't the police do anything? She STOLE, not took away as a punishment, not borrowed, STOLE, as in, went in when we weren't there and pawned it for drug money. None of ot adds up to me now. Anyone care to explain?

Hon, technically, as unfair as this is, minor children have very few property rights- the custodial parent is the presumptive owner of almost all objects within the home.

I know that sucks rocks when a situation like your happens but the law has very little recourse in such circumstances.

Yes, in some situations, like yours, it's a tremendous injustice and I'm sorry you have no recourse about the items she pawned.
