Default Put your own oxygen mask on first! Taking care of yourself is important.

I thought I would post here because I love this forum and my sisters can relate! I was watching a video of Reesy's pieces(from pwpg.org) and she was talking about putting your oxygen mask on first like when you are flying somewhere and the fl attendant tells you to put yours on first so that you can help others. Well, I felt just like that a few moments ago. You see, I let myself get physically ill with (I think) bronchitis for the last few days. I am coughing lots and just exhausted! My baby calls me and I know that these calls are expensive -- they are so precious and I love him so much, I just didn't have the heart to tell him I was so zapped I didn't want to talk to him! This has to be the first time I have ever let that thought cross my mind and I feel like a HORRIBLE girlfriend!!! I talked to him anyways but I just wanted it over because he wanted to hear my voice(even if it sounds like Barry Whiteha ha) cuz he was having a rough day.
After the call I was thinking I need to take care of myself first so I can help him later! UGH! Just like Reesy said that this life takes a toll on a person emotionally and physically, socially, etc. but I forgot to put my oxygen mask first today I think! Now I am going to cuddle with a box of Kleenex. yay...

I think you are so right about this! So often I felt like I forget to take care off me first. But since the first of the year I have been treating myself to little things a couple of times a month. Because I began to feel exhausted and run down from everything. I feel so much better and even he had noticed! Think maybe I just needed a little more oxygen!

I hate bronchitis, I hope you feel better soon. You are correct though and not just in the physcial sense but financially, emotionally, spiritually as well. We cannot truly begin to help our loved ones or others if we are not taking care of ourselves.

I am so glad you are taking time to treat yourself here and there! Most women (and I am not immune ) want to just take care of everything. We neglect ourselves. Even while waiting for sentencing I cooked and spent a lot of time with him so he didn't go too crazy. I stopped doing things for just me and did it all for him. Once I am better( I do have bronchitis for sure now) I am going to start running again. That's gotta help me get out of my sadness! I am sure there are a load of stats out there to prove it. Good luck Liz & Adam I bet you are one breath of fresh air!lol
