Default 6 to 24 months

Question. Pennsylvania, tec probation violation sentenced to 6-24 months. Any idea how long he will actually sit? His first time in state! I think I am more nervous than he is! Any thoughts for me?

Wow, I didn't think you could go upstate with that little time.....never heard of anyone going upstate with a six month minimum. I would assume the standard parole procedures would apply, and that he'd be eligible to get out at six months.

That's what I thought, but the judge can do what he wants. I hear people on here with MANY years, don't know how they can do it! I pray for all of them!

When the max is 24 months or more, it becomes a state sentence. The judge clearly didn't want him in the county system, probably because the state does not have good time credit. Also, this means he answers to the state from now on, which is far worse that being under county supervision.

He is eligible for parole at the end of the six months. That's the good news. The potential problem is that the Board will see the VOP as a "failure" under supervision and ask, "Why would this time be any different?"
