Hello, everybody. I already wrote a very short intro in the main introductions board, but I wanted to write something here too.

Truth be told, I still don't even know if my friend will be convicted (although it seems like the most likely possibility, ) so of course I don't know where exactly he could be sent. I believe the case is federal (I might be wrong,) I don't know if that means he can be sent to a facility in another state.

I wanted to try and learn as much as possible about the system and other's experiences, so I can maybe help him get through things (and also maybe help myself be less worried about him.) As I learn more about his situation I'll try to update people with our experiences; in the meantime, I would like to thank all of you for the help and support.

Whether or not it's Federal depends on the crime, obviously. What is he being charged with? Also, both the federal and state courts take into account family location and things of that nature when determining where a person is sent. That being said, depending on the crime, he/she could be sent anywhere in the country that has a facility that is graded for that persons crime.
