Default Painful periods. Want to go back on birth control.

I stopped my birth control a long time ago because obviously the bf is locked up. I also was way too emotional, crying all the time, etc...on it. It did however regulate my period well and lessened many painful symptoms. I was on the Nuvaring. I know it bothered my bf that I was still on it in the beginning of his time, so I think he was happy when I went off. The thing is yes I'm less emotional, but my periods are horrible. Cramps so bad I'm bent over in pain and have to lie in bed. I also have had to use mass amounts of tampons. These symptoms have gotten worse as time goes on. Anyway, Nuva worked, but had more side effects. I think I would like to probably go back on a pill form. I took Yaz for years and had no problems. Are there any recommendations for others?

Oh sorry to hear about all the pain when I was younger I had severe pain with cramps as well. I would get them so bad I would turn pale white and get nauseous. It was the worst. My doctor said after I had kids you get less or no cramps at all. With me that worked I was always on a birth control call Lo Oval it helped me regulate but didn't help with cramps them my doctor prescribed me a medicine called Anaprox its a blue pill that u take and what it does is open up the Fallopian tubes to let the blood flow thru the way it should. Well hope my story helped. Good Luck.

All types of bc will affect everyone differently, but the patch helps regulate periods really well, just as long as it stays stuck to your body. You don't have to worry about taking the pill the same time everyday. Just put a new patch on yourself once a week.

I just recently got on the depo shot. I like it so far.

My hubby freaked out when I told him I was going back on birth control. He was like why the hell do you need birth control!? lol.

You should have your dr. Check to see if you have endometriosis. My cramps were like that too severely painful even when i wasn't on my period...and tampons made them worst...i went to the er many times the last time i went i was rushed into surgery....there they found i had endometriosis. Now that I've had two surgeries i no longer get painful periods....not trying to scare you but deff. Worth getting checked out.

When I wear tampons it's worse too! I can never figure out why! They thought I had that when I was like 17ish I have something else though I'm not sure if it would cause that pain.. I can't spell it but a layer of my bladder is missing the pills are $300 so for now I can't take em!

I asked my Dr. about the shot at my last annual exam. He said it would make me feel really bloated...he was pushing the Nuva Ring hard lol. Maybe it was the contraceptive of the month. Like I said Nuva was way easy, but I had some bad side effects. As someone pointed out, everyone does react differently to birth control. I have heard of endometriosis and it sounds scary as hell! How does your Dr. check for that? It has only been these past like 6 months or so that my periods have gotten so bad. I am due for my annual, so I guess I will discuss options then. I just want to feel less moody and not drained of life during my period! It's hard to function! My boyfriend will probably have some words for me about going back on birth control, but he will have to deal and understand that this choice is most definitely not about wanting to have sex. Thanks all!

Endometriosis is scary but I'm happy they found what my problem was. They can sometimes see it thru an ultra sound. But bring it up to your dr. Because allot if times it goes undiagnosed for a long time. I had it six years before i new dr. Discovered i had it. And if its not that, then yea your man will have to understand birth control is for many things besides preventing pregnancy. Good luck to you

When I was younger I had horrible periods - nausea, cramps unimaginable. My doctor put me on some BC and it still happened - checked for endomitriosis and I was clear. As I got older my periods got better but recently they've been bad again and I've been getting UTIs after almost every period went back to my doctor and he put me on some anti-inflammatory pills - I take them 2 days before and 2 days after my period - they seem to be working. My doc says my ovaries get inflamed and if I'm stressed I'm even more susceptible to pain and another UTI - need to make sure to keep up on water too.

I hope you find some Relief sweetie - I really can relate.

Thanks for the well wishes! I think I have heard of the 2 pills before and 2 after thing with the anti-inflammatory pills. I might have to look into that further. All I have done is take some Advil every once in awhile.

My cramps are worse without birth control too! I know my last one I was in such pain I couldn't hardly take it..as for a pill I took seasonique I think that's how it's spelled.. I loved it took it for 4 years to help get my periods under control! You only have 4 a year as well which is a bonus
I stopped mine the day my husband went in.

I liked the idea of Seasonique and tried it and it gave me horrible acne and I think some hair loss. I still have some of those scars! I also somehow ended up not regulating on it and had like 15 day periods. Sorry just had to rant about that one.

$300 dollar pills? That's crazy, i can relate after my first surgery i had to go on this medication shot once a month for 6 months and they were $1,000 a piece! The first one we had to pay out of pocket for until thankfully insurance kicked in. I ended up being on it for a year. But yea i still can't wear tampons, the min. I do that awful pain full cramps start.

I was just thinking that I did really well on the bc pill Yaz several years ago, but I keep seeing all these warnings and lawsuits for it and similar ones because they contain drospirenone. Does anyone know if that is all hype? It also helped control my SEVERE mood swings right before my period. That is the other reason I want to go back on birth control. I am scary as hell, so moody, and just plain irritable way beyond the scope of just PMS.

I had the same exact kind of period myself and I took care of them altogether. I have the lowest does of estrogen pill and take it every single day, so I do not even have a period. I go to the doctor once a year and get my years worth of pills.

I know some will piss and moan about it, but my fiance and I do NOT want children and I will be damned if I suffer with nasty-ass periods again. And, no, I am not having any kind of surgery.

That and I just read something that said the longer you are on the pill, the less chance you have of getting uterine cancer, so I will stay on the pill, until that damn meno-pause kicks in, then I can deal with hot-flashes and night sweats...lol

Ugh, the life of a woman

Peace~
