Default Letter writing campaign, Sentencing Commission.

I just received a notice from one of the organizations working for change. Each year the public gets a chance to make its voice heard at the U.S. Sentencing Comm. For the first time in years it is stated that the Commission is not considering improving the federal drug guidelines

Our letters/voices can make the difference. If we flood this commission with letters we might be able to presuade them.

Many of us sit on this board and say we wish we could do something to help this drug war mess. Well, people this is it. Get those letters in but do it quick. Deadline for receipt at the commission is

JULY 23, 2012

They should be mailed to HON. Patti B. Saris, Chair, United States Sentencing Commission, One Columbus Circle, N.E., Suite 2-500, Washington, D.C. 20002-8002, ATTN: Public Affairs Priorities Comment OR they can be e-mailed to publicaffairs@ussc.gov. IN ANY CASE--DO IT QUICK

A sample letter was listed as follows:

I urge the U.S. Sentencing Commission to make improving the drug guidelines a priorty for the 2013 amendment cycle, in particular, I want to see all drug guidelines lowered by two levels, as was done with crack cocaine in 2007. I care about this issue because (insert your story.

An example could be: My son is serving 24 years for his first methamphetamine conviction--but make it your own story here)

People get everyone you know to write a letter. There are so many of us if we count all the family members involved in this mess.

This is our chance to do something.

Well, everyone, time is near the dead-line for writing a letter and getting it there in time.

However, there is still time to send an e-mail. Hope everyone will take the time to do this.

TOO LATE if reading this now. However, hope all that read will get involved in working for change. There are many good organizations out there. Become a part and make your voices heard.

No one knows the horrows of this life as those of us that have lived them--either through our eyes or those of a loved one. We need to make others see this world.
There is no one to tell this story--but those of us.

Also, don't let an election go by without voting--a voting individual has more power with their candidates in an election.
