I would, well I actually did. It was a boy and I named it Ghost. It was a white red nose pit and the sweetest thing, well to us. Anyone else no. I actually had to get rid of it because I was moving into a small 1 bedroom apartment and it did not like my boyfriend at the time who is now my husband. This dog was very protective over me! They are very sweet but they can be scary if you don't own one.

Default pitbulls

I own a pitbull - she is 4 yrs old and let me tell you she is too dumb to be mean. If someone broke into my home she would show them where all the valuables were lol, and then lick them to death. She is really a sweet dog- actually she is my husbands and I have thought about getting rid of her but like I said she is his and couldn't do that to him. Isis is very protective her family - and loves kids- my grandson can get on her back and ride her like a horse and she loves every minute of it.

Default Love My APBT!

I own a beautiful, one-year-old pit named Kilo. He is mine and my husbands' greatest joy. He is like a son to us and since we have owned a pit in the past (who unfortunately died very early ) it was a definite YES that we would get another. Kilo is classified as a blue APBT with white markings. He has watchdog and remy bloodlines which makes him have a very distinct look and a huge head LOL. He is currently 63 lbs. and I love to watch him grow.

In our local pit community we stress responsible ownership as well as good "citizens". Just as others have commented pits, just like any other breed can be aggressive. It is all about how you raise them and channel that negative energy. We find that through early socialization, training and TLC you can have the most loyal, caring and wonderful family dog.

I love APBT's and would never own any other breed!

Default No No No......

Me personally NO. The reason because January 9, 2004 my neighbors came into MY yard and killed my 5 year old Himelayen (sp?), she never even saw it coming as she was sound asleep curled up on my porch. i saw the dog outside through my window, got to the door to shoo it away and out of my yard. By the time I reached the door it had her in his mouth. My hubby and I fought like heck to get the dog to release her to no avail. Here is the link for the editorial for those interested in reading what happened.

(if i did not put the link in correctly...please let me know.. )

I know that not all pits are mean, some are very good natured. But I could not own one now. I have a friend who has a dog that is 1/2 pit and something or other and he is the sweetest dog I have ever met. But I would be too worried.

I am very sorry for your loss. I certainly can understand your fear of pit bulls. If that had happened to me and one of my beloved animals I am sure I would feel the same way.

As far as your thread, I am sorry, I cannot go and take a look. To read such things only saddens me even more.

You are right though, not all pits are mean. But once they have that taste of blood, there doesn't seem to be any stopping them.

My heart goes out to you. May your cat rest in peace now and sleep on God's porch surrounded by love and white light.

I've have 2....one male, one female

Male...is a very protective of me and my children. He doesn't like Men at all and if he gets too close to ANY other dog there will be a fight..i haven't ever incourged him to fight but it is his nature and he reacts to other dogs in that way, mostly other male dogs.. i have seen him use a lot of patinces when a puppy wondered up on him and believe it or not he doesn't mind the cats...i've watch the cats and him eat out of the same bowl..

Female---house dog, not a mean bone in her body..i'm not sure if she even knows that shes a dog...LOL..

I wouldn't take the world for either one of them. They are a very important part of our family...

well of course do male dogs gets easily get into fights that got ABSOLUTLY nothing to do with that they happen to be an pitbull! I WOULD GET AN PITBULL ANYTIME ANYWHERE!! this rae the most ADorable dogs i HAVE EVER SEEN !! NOT THOSE WISHI WASHI golden retriever and shit! getting rid of a dog because bmoving houses? sorry that is too much! before someone gets an animal they should know how long it stays alive.. - it is not like old cloth that you you throw away if it doesn`t fit anymore!! IM sorry but to me- before getting any animal be sure you could keep it doean`t matter what!! sorry don`t mean to be offensive - but to me - i just can`t stand if people see those adoreable puppys or kitten or whatever- but after a while they will get tired of it!! well.. an animal is not a toy-- ot is alive and it is having a soul- this dogs would give their life for you if neccessary- how can you just give it away??im sorry but issue like that get me very upset..

I had my boyfriend's for 2 years. He was a giant...90 pounds with a huge head. He was the SWEETEST thing you have ever met.

He was my shadow...slept with me, laid on the mat in the bathroom when I was taking a shower, sit at my feet when I was cooking or doing dishes.

I had no problems with visitors, he was friendly to whoever I was friendly to. He didn't like when strangers got to close to me on the street though and he HATED other dogs and I mean HATED. He would go crazy just on the sight of another dog.

The only problem is when I started working fulltime day hours. I was a bartender when I got him and was able to spend ALOT of time with him. When I was gone, he started to TEAR UP my house, plus spiteful "accidents." I just crated him until he learned his lesson.

My landlord made me get rid of him, said she didn't want THOSE types of dogs in her building. We gave him to a friend, so he's okay....I miss him sooooo much though. He was my little man!

I think they make great pets, but as with any animal you need to be watchful of their actions until you get to know them.

I'm glad to see mine isn;t the only one who has tantrums and lets me know when he is mad

Any dog can be vicious and any dog can be a sweetheart. Ive seen vicious golden retreivers. It all depends on the personality of the dog and how he is raised. They have a bad rep but are sweet, sweet animals. Shelters are filled with them because people either get them to fight and the poor animals wont do it, or because they lost a fight. If you are thinking about getting a pit bull please consider adopting one from a shelter. Most places do behavior checks before putting them up for adoption.

I have 2 pit puppies..one male- Diago and one female- Sadie. They keep me in stitches. Sadie is 4 months old and is very loving and sweet with the biggest saddist eyes. Diago is 3 months old and is sooooooooo cute you just want to pick him up and squeeze him to pieces (which I do). I wish my scanner weren't broken and I'd post pics of them. They're like my babies... as my son is 25.*L*

I have always had a pitt in my amily since the day I was brought home from the hospital (almost 31 years!) They can and are the most sweetest dogs if raised right. I have a female now Lola and a male mix Jake. I got Lola on the streets and she was dang near dead when I found her. She was roughly 5 weeks old. I looked to the humane society and found where they offer free puppy classes for taining. It was called Puppy Kindergarten. I took her for the socialization with other dogs. I knew how to train but I also knew that a Pitt has to be socialized if they are to be trusted around other dogs. It worked and she is a lover of all God's 4 legged creatures. 2 legged not so much.
Then came Jake. I got him when he was almost 6 months. He had been thrown into a back yard and forgotten about even when it came to feeding time. Jake will not tolerate any dog but his sister Lola and only then if food isnt involved. He is my dog for sure and wont have anything to do with anyone else. I am worried when the hubby comes home!

I believe again that it is all dependent on the way you raise them. If the humane society doesnt have a free puppy class, find a dog park or even a plain park where you know people walk their dogs. Just get them socialized! Make sure are up to date on vaccines though cause just like our kids in school, we dont want them catching anything someone else might have. Just my !

ABSOLUTELY. The think they are the best dogs in the world. My brother has three and my parents have one. They are the best dogs in the entire world and I trust them with my daughter being around them without any question. My brothers baby, Sampson, he is beautiful chocolate red nose and he is huge, he is just like a big baby. When you sit on the couch he insists on sitting on your lap. He is so smart he walks up to me, grabs me by the arm and takes me to his leash drawer and says walk me. He also grabbed me by the arm and took me to the hose in the back yard and told me give me a bath. He is probably the smartest dog I have ever known. He has two others and they are great dogs as well but not quite as smart as Sampson.

I did have one and she was the best dog ever!! She was a rednose pitbull and very beautiful. She was a good girl and I miss her so much. After I moved, my parents gave her away.

Yes , I would . They are good dogs . My sister has had several and I learned how loving and smart and loyal they are . They , like Doberman,Rototillers and other have a reputation they don't deserve because of PEOPLE ! Any dog can be made mean and/or aggressive . It depends on how they are treated . I myself have had 2 Determines who are absolutely the best dogs !!

I said No but I know someone who has two great ones.....I am just nervous of them and rotties and alot of other dogs. I love dogs but I like them a little less powerful haha!

I know it's all in how you raise em and they get a bad rap! It's not often the dogs it's the people!

As a matter of fact I have a pit named "Layla" and 2 rocks named "Pac" and "Biggie". Layla is a little over a year and she lived in the house until recently, when I got the 2 puppy rocks. They are all spoiled like children.

What is a 'rock'? A Rottweiler maybe?
