Counting the days ‘til I see his smiling face

Counting the days 'til that moment nothing can replace

Well, I thought everything was fine, but he’s decided now that he’s home he has to think about himself, get his life right and he doesn’t want anything else that he might have to deal with. So he told me good bye. This is the ending to my poem that I wrote when he first went in. Why men (maybe not all men) have to only think about themselves I don’t know. The whole time he was there I did for him, I was unselfish, I listened, I cared enough to do what I could to make his life easier. Maybe it’s my fault for expecting something in return.

Counting the days ‘til it keeps from breaking

Counting the days ‘til the tears stop falling

Counting the days ‘til his voice stops calling

Counting the days ‘til this pain goes away

Counting the days because he could never say

Counting the days ‘til I can sleep at night

Counting the days because he couldn’t hold me tight

Counting the days ‘til I learn to love again

Counting the days now life without him begins
