Default fyi: poll on another website

Cosmopolitan magazine is taking a poll about if we would like to hear about loving a man in prison. They are conducting a poll and also stories if you look further through the site. Just thought someone might be interested!

Default cosmo link to post to vote and comment

I went to cosmo's website and voted on their poll regarding an article on loving an inmate'

to take the poll click on the link below
http://ivillage.opinionware.com/owus..._prisoners.htm

I also left a comment on the next link asking them to do an article without the stereo types and other BS we have seen in other articles and media features. shoulda spell checked too Wish i had mentioned the book prisoners wife, too.

http://magazines.ivillage.com/cosmop...293007,00.html
I only visited to check out a poll I had read about regarding loving an inmate (I'm not really a cosmo kinda girl). I voted yes, but i would like to see cosmo do it from a different angle than the rest....with out the stereotyping of women who love prisoners. We are all so sick of psychiatrists and their opinion of how we are suffering from low self esteem or erotic fantasies of bad boys...please have your writers check out WWW.prisontalk.com, there are plenty of women here, who can give you a more realistic view of who we are.

thank you for listening, Cynthia Holland

With cosmo it's all about the sex, sex and pleasing your man. Different slant- maybe they will have penpal web sites or encourage women to try it out, but I sincerely doubt they will dispell the stereotypes.

I got the same thing. I wonder why they shut it down? Also, from the way they phrased it, I suspect they are looking at doing one more "who are these poor souls who fall for the 'glamour' of death row" stories. The world doesn't desperately need that.

I sent in a comment on the cosmo website, basically asking them to really research their article and not to assume we are a bunch of desperate lonely women. I spoke of our committment, our loyalty, our struggles and fears. I think its a good idea to respond to these things. We don't them stereotyping us all the time.

You know, I noticed the wording too. I realize that a lot of people do meet as pen pals and that is all fine and wonderful, but why doesn't anyone talk about the people who were dedicated to each other before the prison sentence was handed down? Why not discuss those of us who stick by the vow of "for better or for worse"?

Because it wont sell as many issues, thats why Amy. They can sensationalize the stories better than way instead of showing marriages that stays strong thru incarceration. Strong and commited married couples don't sell too many issues I guess, yes Cosmo even thru this poo we manage to stay together and committed to each other.

The do a lot of stories from the view of a strong woman who overcame the obstacles in her life. Why should this be any different? I think that this is one of the most major strains anyone can go thru...not to mention any relationship. It is sad and disgusting that the media has to make people look bad to make money. What is wrong with hearing something good every now and again. I guess it would be un-American to be happy for someone, instead of running them down or laughing at them.

I don't think the poll was up for very long, but I didn't get to vote in it either. Once they started getting comments about doing a positive story they probably pulled it.

Lol, or maybe so many of us pto members went on the site that the poll crashed?

Well, I got to vote and I hope that they do some type of positive article, but in this day and age with the media it's next to impossible.
