Talking The OBTS System and how lo see what they say about you

If you were an inmate at one point of the Washongton State Department of Corrections and you want to see everything they have written about you, then you need til send a public disclosure request to them.

Here is how you do it. Send this letter between the start and end points.

---------start---------

(date)

(your name, address and phone number. YOu have to give your phone number)

Department of Corrections
Attn: Records holder
715 - 8th Ave SE, P.O. BOX 41122
Olympia, WA. 98504-1122

Re Public Disclosure Request

Dear Records holder

Please forward this PDA request to the appropriate records holder to satisfy the nature of this document.

Pursuant to RCW 42.17 I wish to “examine” the following records:

1. Any and all records that are related to my name either in OBTS (Offender Based Tracking System), typed, written, tape recorded or any record what so ever that are withing the Department of Corrections control or that they created.

2. I wish to "examine" the Intranet site for Washington State Department of Corrections.

If any of the requested records are in electronic form, I wish to view those records in their electronic form (on a computer screen). I do not want to pay for copying of any forms until I have examined the requested records “first”. This will enable myself to determine which records I wish to have before any costs are created. Please coordinate with me by telephone or email to schedule a date and time for this “examination”.

Sincerely

(your name)

----------end----------

Fill in the appropriate spots and send the letter. Keep this in mind. If you do not give your address and phone number, they have the legal right to deny your request. So if you're inclined to hide from them, then I suggest that you do NOT file this kind of request.

However, if you do send this kind of request, show some balls and you back it up with insitance to see these records, you will find that Department of correction will be running from you in short order. that has been our experiance. These guys are running cowards when someone starts to get real smart.

i thought if your currently an inmate you can automatically get them from records. but if your not they are making you go through the state patrol if it's after a certain date you were locked up.
i agree they are so totally backwards up here and nothing in the line of a common sense answer for you is out there.

he should be able to go to the records department where he is at and ask for a copy of his face sheet. it shouldn't cost him anything. or get a hold of state patrol and request a form for requesting criminal background sheet. i know that there is a fee i just don't know how much.
good luck!
