Talking Need help from all w/Texas proxy weddings

I am planning my wedding, because my man is in county jail we have decided to do a proxy marriage. We are both in Oklahoma and I am going to drive down to Texas with his mother and get married in September. I am still trying to find an officiant, because we want a Christian ceremony, but that's another story. I am getting my license out of Cooke County. What I need are some ideas. He won't be there of course, but we still want to make it special. I have already stolen the idea to mail eachother letters that we only open on our wedding day, (Thanks for the post) but because I don't know anything about Texas I would like some ideas of where I can have my wedding that is beautiful and inexpensive. I was thinking maybe in a park or by a fountain. I don't know! I am not that romantic so I need help! You can also suggest other things to do that can make my day special. So get your wedding planner hats on and let's plan a BIG PTO PROXY WEDDING ON ME!

What is the closest bigger city to you here in Texas? I see you are in Norman. I am originally from Wichita Falls, my husband is at the Allred Unit in Wichita Falls, and since my family is there I decided to have my ceremony there. I wanted to be able to see him the day after we got married. So I planned it with accordance to my visitation schedule. For a few weeks before hand I planned my flowers, what my nieces would wear, what I would wear, and my rings. I made my own basket for my loose flower petals (I don't know if you can tell what it looks like in the pictures) with a 99cent basket and flowers from the Family Dollar Store. I had a ring pillow from a 99 cent store. Walmart carries them too just not 99cents but the same thing. I got my nieces dresses from Family Dollar store, eight bucks apiece, and I got my dress from Walmart for 13 bucks. I was on a budget. My mom picked up my flowers the day of, we paid 30 bucks for the sweetest woman (Judge Sons in Wichita County)to do our ceremony. She made up a supurb service. Now as far as where to have it...Wichita Falls, not sure how far it is from you, has some pretty spots. The falls, Lucy Park...just depends on what exactly the "theme" you want. I did all spring colors. Plan now, get your license, and after that you got 30 days to put it into effect! ENJOY yourself because regardless if he is there or not, it's still YOUR day!

Thanks V_F, I see a lot of people have viewed the thread, but only you have responded. I appreciate your ideas. I don't know how far Wichita Falls is but I will look into it. The closest Texas town to me is Gainesville, that is where I am getting the licanse, but I don't have to get married there. I hope that others will respond and tell me of other spots in Texas that I might have a wedding. There will only be me and 3 of my kids and his mother, so I want it to be special. If I find anything interesting I will post it. Thanks.

Talking I think I have found It! Woohoo!

I think I have found the place! There is a Bed & Breakfast in Gainesville that will be perfect. It is beautiful! They have wedding packages that are affordable compared to other planned weddings and it will be a nice place that we can visit after he gets out and on our anniversaries. I am so excited! They have a guest house that myself, my new mother-in-law and my 3 kids can stay for that day and night. I can make it real special being with the other important people in my life and take pictures for my new hubbie to enjoy. I emailed the owners and I am hoping that they won't have a problem with it being a proxy ceremony (no husband). Here is the info on the Bed & Breakfast just in case others are looking for great ideas:

Thanks for everybody's support!
I Love PTO!
