Default Nervous about Anatomy and Physiology

I've heard many horror stories about these classes, and I'm wondering if I can handle it. I got my books last Monday and took them to my Law and Ethics class with me. My instructor in L&E is the same instructor that teaches A&P and told me to bring her up the book. She started marking pages that I should do over our week break just to get a jump start. I asked her just how tough the class will be and her response was.."you know how much homework and study time you had for this class? Well triple it" Ugh! I know I should go into it with an open mind, but I cant help but be nervous. My step sister took it at a different college and her advice was to take that class and ONLY that class during a quarter/semester. I'm taking 3 other classes along with it.
Okay I'm just rambling now. Any advice on making it through this quarter with a C or better would be appreciated lol

It's a pure rote course, especially the anat.Prepare to make up little sayings for each set of bones and muscles - you know, the first letter of each one and make a word out of it, or like remembering the notes of a music staff - Every Good Boy Deserves Fudge (E<G<B<D<F).

Im in my 3rd semester of A & P, It is a really tough class but I took my first semester with 3 other classes and did better than i thought i would. Its a lot of memorization, but that is the hardest thing. If it is something that is interesting to you, that will make it easier anyway. Anatomy has turned out to be one of my favorite classes, because it finally feels like i am learning something related to what i am going to school for instead of math, english, etc. They told me on the first day to set aside 20 hours a week for studying, but i didnt study anywhere near that much! My best advice is not to let it overwhelm you or it will seem harder than it really is! What are you going to school for? I am going for nursing. Good luck and if you have any questions or need help, pm me i will do what i can

Thanks Nim and Shel, I've just been stressing about this since she told me that. Shel, I originally started out majoring in Medical Insurance Coding, but I've since decided to double major and throw Medical Assisting in there too. I just cant seem to figure out what the heck I want to do!!

Again, Thanks

Thumbs up

It's all memorization.

Of course, the Anatomy is easier than the psysiology, but it is one of those courses where you just memorize it all, and basically forget most of it, but know where to find the information, when you need it again.

It's just time consuming. If you can tape your classes, that will make it easier to study.

Nothing to stress over--I'd call it "tedious"!

Just make sure you keep your grade up!

You can do it!!

I was ordering some barcharts today and noticed they have a sample up for anatomy. It is only the first page...but hey...free. It is bound to cover something.

The anatomy is definitely just memorization. The little neumonic (sp?) tricks work great. Making up silly songs or having someone to study with and make it fun will make it all easier to remember. The physiology side is a bit tougher, but they are both classes that just require time. More time than brainpower, if that makes sense. No worries. You can do it! You just gotta make time for it!

GOOD LUCK!!!
Jenn
