Hey Chris,

Didn't they give you some sort of topic???? If not, you can tell them about yourself and why you're going to school, your carreer path, interests, and things of that sort. Yo must make sure that it all connects in some way.LOL If you have any questions feel free to IM me.

Think of it as a job interview without actually talking to someone. What college entrance departments look for in these essays are an overall picture of your purpose in pursuing a degree. You want to write about subjects such as: genuine interest in the college, your work ethic/determination, your goals after graduating, your goals in life, and a quick overview of your personality. Accentuate what you believe are your positive traits.

This is usually standard. I am not sure if I did it for undergrad, but for Grad school it was a 300 word essay requirement. Just tell them about you and why you decided to go back to school. It is basically the schools snapshot in to seeing who you are. Before you know it 500 words will be on paper. Just sit and think about why school is important, and why you are going back. It won't be too bad I promise.

I had to do a 300 word essay for my first undergrad.

It was about why you wanted the degree and it actually came back when meeting with one of my guidance counselors when I wanted to change majors, to reflect on the things I enjoy, etc, etc.

Basically, they want to know why you want to be there. Just sell yourself a bit. And talk about how a degree can help you further yourself or get closer to your goals or just filling that desire for knowledge...
