Prisons NOT overcrowded!

Sorry guys, I don't have the link but it was in Wednesday's newspaper (The Daily Press out of Escanaba) that the State of Michigan claims that even though there was an increase in prisoners incarcerated in 2005, the prisons are NOT full to capacity and are not expected to be full until 2008. Funny, that's not what I hear. From everything I've heard the prisons (@ least Mid Michigan) is HORRIBLY overcrowded! Not good!

I read something similar to that as well. They are probably saying that because of all the bunks that they added. Who knows!

On the Michigan State DOC website is there a prison population report? I'd check if I were you. PA has one every month and I hate to say it, but they were 35 people away from being 100% and over for the entire state! Not overcrowded, sounds like fuzzy math to me.

I suggest you guys go to the petition forum. There's a petition to bring back good time going which I started. There's a bill sitting at the Judicial Committee that the chairman refuses to even look at. 5129, 5130, 5131. If you read the petition it will give you some insight of last year's report which came out before it MDOC closed some prisons. We need more signatures--especially from Michigan residents.

Not overcrowded. That's laughable. They are trying to fool the GP with their antics and false reports. It's so sad. Litlle do they realize WE know the truth. We are just as PUBLIC as the thepapers. MANY read this site & the TRUTHS to the lies MDOC reports! Just because you quadruple bunk & take away the minimal amt of space, doesn't mean all of a sudden we're not overcrowded. The facilites were built to hold just so many inmates. MDOC has chosen to expand that minimal amt of space & then all of a sudden say their not overcrowded. Nice try MDOC, but WE know the truth!!!!!!
