Default Increase in LWOP means many aging lifers

Life sentences are given to convicts who are said to be beyond rehabilitation, but the warden of Louisiana's Angola Prison says most of his aging charges have long since gone through "criminal menopause." What should we do with the growing number of elderly prisoners who've left their criminal selves behind?

Thanks for the article, qwerty...sad but true especially in Louisiana. This is my life at least twice a month when I visit my husband and know many who are sentenced to LWOP for crimes committed before they were of the legal age of 21. Many have already served 20+ years and no longer pose a significant threat to society and would become productive citizen's if given the chance. I refuse to accept it as the final verdict and by Faith believe that reform is coming SOON!
